I’ve got one of those...I can’t give it away. I paid 3 grand for it 10 years ago. But I was the first on the block to have HD ;-)

I’m using a 26” Samsung HD TV(1920x1200) right now as I type this. And I’m watching TV on my 46” Sony XBR. In a few minutes I will switch the HD TV signal to the Samsung and play Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 on the big screen Sony...
Most of the quality TV’s nowadays do double duty. I have another computer hooked to the 40” Sony LCD in my bedroom. With a wireless keyboard and mouse I can surf from bed.

Can a flat TV screen be used for a computer?
Absolutely.
So how do you connect to the TV? is it wireless from a laptop? or do you have to plug in cables from laptop to TV? or???

My wife won’t allow anything in the bedroom which has the word “flat” in it.

I've always used direct cable hookup from the PC to the TV. The newer TVs (LCD type) have the same connectors as a flat screen PC monitor would, so there is nothing different there. I also liked to use a wireless mouse as a sort of remote control so I could web browse from across the room or control the PC video player from my couch.

I've never tried wireless video output, but apparently it does exist. I did a quick google search and came up with this example of a wireless video adapter:

32-inch Westinghouse LCD HDTV for $246 That's around the price of a framed painting of similar size. Look for HDTVs to start replacing wall art. With 2D infrared sensors like a Wii it could a) create a window effect, moving the foreground faster, b) turn off when no one is around, and c) serve as a sensor for a burglar alarm. The HDTVs could use cell phone technology to download new pictures from an internet service.

A high-def flatscreen is tempting, but my 36 Sony XBR tube weighs 234 pounds and I *really* dont feel like moving it downstairs and out. Ten years ago it was torture enough getting it upstairs.I've got a similar TV which is why I plan on going with Best Buy when I finally buy a LCD TV. Their price includes free recycling of your old TV; "Take it away, boys!"

I sit 10-11’ from my 67” LED DLP. I should be 2-3 feet closer, according to the home theater aficionados. Gives me a headache that close though.

When you sit too close you end up scanning your eyes left, right, up and down sufficiently so to give you a headache.
Your friends may have built up the muscles running their eyeballs ~ no idea what happens once they start looking like Arnold Schwarzenegger.
