I didn’t get to watch the Cowboys-Packers game, but it appears what I’ve been saying has come to fruition. The Cowboys’ lack of depth will be their undoing. Colombo goes down, and there goes the offense. Jerry loves to spend for the top 22 players, but it’s the bottom 23 that will cost him in the end.

The Pokes still have a one game lead in their division, so I'm not giving up on them yet. I agree about Jerry overpaying the starters to the detriment of the rest of the team, but I think the depth problems go back to several years of non-productive drafts. That being said, the Cowboys offensive line is built with size for a power rushing team. In a 4-3, the defensive line takes on the offensive line directly and allows the linebackers to flow in and make plays. In the 3-4, the idea is to create confusion on the o-line, hopefully leaving at least one lineman with nobody to block and a rusher coming in from another location.

Big offensive linemen, like Flozelle Adams, have a lot of trouble with an outside speed rusher, and the linebackers, being in an upright, rather than a down position, can move laterally prior to the snap, making the adjustment a lot harder.

The Pokes will definitely miss Colombo, but the Packer defense was giving them fits even before he went down.
