I was raised Catholic but am now an atheist. When I am in church for weddings or funerals, I stand when everyone stands, kneel when everyone kneels, etc. When it comes time to pray, I simply fold my hands and look down. I respect those who believe, but it's obvious I am not taking part.
I think Obama's an atheist when it comes to America. He stands there quietly while others salute, present but not "voting" so to speak, in attendance but not participating.
He doesn't believe.

When I was in the Army protecting and serving this country, it’s citizens, and its constitution, had I stood there like a fu**ing dumba$$ while the national anthem played or while the flag was raised, lowered, or presented, I would have lost rank, money, respect, and plenty of sweat.

From Rules for Radicals by Obamas hero, Saul Alinsky: RULE 5: "Ridicule is man's most potent weapon." There is no defense. It's irrational. It's infuriating. It also works as a key pressure point to force the enemy into concessions.
QUESTIONS?

I take it the national anthem was playing. Again.

Okay, I found another picture. Looks like he eventually got up to speed.

I see a trumpeter on the right there, but don't know exactly what's going on.

I was wondering, protocol and etiquette and all, what is really the proper way for a CIC to salute? I'm given to understand that if ex-military is not in uniform, they should not give a military salute. So George Bush was not in uniform, but still saluted. It came across as only marginally effective.
What should a civilian prez with no military background do when saluted by the marines that guard him? It also seems rude to not acknowledge the gesture.
What did Reagan do?

Maybe he thought they were saluting him? LOL. I think you nailed it with your question. It's always about him. He's clueless when it comes to protocol.

This picture was taken last Memorial Day while they were playing “Hail To the Chief” in which case Obama would not salute himself. It has been posted in some websites incorrectly stating that it was taken on Veterans Day at Ft. Hood during the playing of the National Anthem. Click here:
