LA MARQUE The owner of one of the worlds fastest production automobiles accidentally drove his fine-tuned, French-built car into a saltwater lagoon Wednesday.
The man, who police said was from Lufkin, was uninjured after escaping the partially submerged Bugatti Veyron as it came to rest in about 2 feet of saltwater.
The two-seater, with 16 cylinders and four turbo chargers, can reach speeds of more than 250 mph. New models sell for about $2 million.

I a year or so it will take 4 million to buy the same car..
Who’s the U-boat commander?
Talking on his cell phone.
Silly Texas Lotto winners will buy anything. I’ll bet he parks it under the tin shed next to his two story, brick mobile home down by the river. s/?
Who's the U-Boat Commander?

That’ll buff right out.
Who’s the U-boat commander?
Who is the lucky insurance adjuster? Love to be in on that phone call. Maybe he could say he wasn’t speeding and was forced off the road by a guy driving the General Lee.
And what kind of deductible do you carry on something like that?
Once the salt got to the car, it was scrap. I saw a 300Z die that way on LBI in New Jersey. I lived in an area where the the wind and high tide would put 18”+ of salt water in the streets. I saw lots of folks leaving a wake as they drove through. I often wondered how long it was before the mysterious electrical problems showed up. I’m sure that happened before the rust made major progress on the under carriage.
Alumnium body? Fresh water bath is a must!
Thanks for everyone’s concerns. I fell asleep at the wheel and am not injured. Has anyone seen my sense of dignity?
"So, who's the U-Boat commander?"
Now the wife will never have to listen to his bitching about her driving ever again in their lifetime.
The cost of the first scheduled service on a Veyron is £13,645 ($22,322), with later services getting more expensive. Tyres need to be replaced approximately every 4,000 kilometres (2,500 mi). The cost of tyres for a Veyron is £6,325 ($10,347) a set, and they can be fitted only by Bugatti. Bugatti says that labour is the bulk of the cost at £6,000 ($9,815), which also includes checking the many complex systems on the car. At every third tyre change, the roadwheels must be replaced. The cost to extend the original two-year new car warranty is £38,000 ($62,164) for 1 year, and £63,000 ($103,062) for 2 years.
I don’t think you get a car like that insured for everyday travel must less financed.
Don't mess with Mother Nature.
Been a year are so but had some conversations with freeper deport so maybe Deport understands who in Lufkin can afford that.
