Sorry—but Michelle has put herself out there and worked at becoming a public figure (hugging Queen Elizabeth, making a big deal out of her gardening, shopping spree in Paris with the girls). This is no silent Pat Nixon or Lady Bird Johnson beautifying American highways. She’s an Ivy-educated woman and she’s not going to stand in the background. She put herself on the front line, she chose to be there. She can take the praise...and she’s a grown-up who better be able to take the hits.
