You’d think a good attorney could poke all kinds of holes in this type of “evidence.”

Of course, public defenders are seldom particularly good attorneys.

For sure dogs have a sense of smell ... 200 times greater than man. There is not favortism with a dog. He is completely uninvolved ... only identifing with his great sense of smell.

Now the handler/trainer might not be so uninvolved or without prejudice.

I would have never even thought that a ‘line up’ for dog scenting would lead to anything other than confusion. Dogs can be trained to follow a scent ( as in good hunting dogs or tracking dogs) and to signal particular odors ( such as cadaver dogs) but I mean this doesn’t even pass the giggle test. If polygraph tests aren’t permissible this shouldn’t be either
