The nightly attacks by two man-eating lions terrified railway workers and brought construction to a halt in one of east Africa's most notorious onslaughts more than a hundred years ago. But the death toll, scientists now say, wasn't as high as previously thought.

News from 111 years ago. This is why jungle drum news failed.
Yeah, I know it’s old, but I really posted it for all of the hard-core vegans.
I think it was 2 young males who hadn’t developed manes yet.
Also, the fact that the lions did not have the typical male mane is one of the things that made them so dangerous. Again IIRC...
Without manes these lions could slip through the thorny underbrush more readily and be all sneaky.
The lions of that region of Africa have no manes.
The males have no manes?
Must be those Kenyan ones, or Indonesia or Hawaii or Bum Fk Egypt or maybe the Chicago ones with really big mouths, but no manes and no balls.
Kenya.
Maneless male lion (Panthera leo)
Interesting.
I’ll have to check it out, I’ve always thought I was up on what’s what in the animal world, but I’ve never heard of adult African male lions without manes.
I watched a documentary where they put different fake male lions in an area with a pride of female lions. The fake males all had different lengths and colors of manes. The females preffered the males with the longest and darkest manes.
Maybe the ones that ate all those poor railroad workers in the 1800’s were just sexually frustrated, and went on a feeding binge.
I CAN HAS HOOMIN?
