That poor child. My heart goes out to her. Sadly that is the story for most people when there families stick them in homes, no matter the age. Anyone who has ever worked in a nursing home knows that.

I hope that your throat feels better soon.

Hugs for your young friend.

Oh, and for you also.

The Problem With Self-Sufficiency
I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. —Revelation 3:15

The city of Laodicea had a water problem. One nearby town had fabulous hot springs and another had cold, clear water. Laodicea, however, was stuck with tepid, mineral-laden water that tasted like sulphur. Not hot. Not cold. Just gross.

Given those facts, the words of Jesus to the Laodicean believers in Revelation 3 must have stung. Jesus rebuked them for being “neither cold nor hot” (v.15). And when He thought of them, He felt like vomiting (v.16)—like the effect of their drinking water.

What was their problem? It was the sin of self-sufficiency. The Laodiceans had become so affluent that they had forgotten how much they needed Jesus (v.17).

When we say we have everything we need, but Jesus isn’t at the top of the list, He is deeply offended. Self-sufficiency distracts us from pursuing the things we really need that only He can give. If you’d rather have cash than character, if your credit cards are maximized and your righteousness is minimized, if you’ve become smart but aren’t wise, then you’ve been shopping in all the wrong places. Jesus offers commodities that are far better (v.18).

He’s knocking at your heart’s door (v.20). Let Him in. He will give you all you really need!

We must be careful to avoid
All self-sufficiency;
If sinful pride gets in the way,
God’s hand we will not see. —Sper

We always have enough when God is our supply.

Thank you dixie sass. I ached when I left. I will be going there often and would like to talk to the administrator about doing some volunteer work to connect with all six of these precious young women. So many are abandoned as cast offs!

Graphic by Billie

Solitude

Solitude is the companionship of the self,
A meaning greater than mere silence.
In the deeply hollows of solitude,
Is a quivering pulse of convalescence.

In the sheer unconsciousness of the moment,
A tear wells in the rim of eye,
And in the sudden realization of the emotion,
Slips from the cheek into oblivion.

A poem spurs from the heart,
Rhythm breaks its ties with rhyme.
Mind slips into the uniformity, momentarily,
When a moment breaks its ties with time.

A little late for breakfast (mine was at 5:30 am), so let us set up a bit early for lunch.

LUNCH

Pastry shell filled with shaved Prosciutto ham, shredded Cheddar cheese and diced green olives. Backed to a golden brown and ‘frosted’ with a thickened Hollandaise sauce and served hot.

Beef, sliced thin and cut in to strips, lightly fried in butter and layered with onions and topped with a compote of cranberries and indian Tamarind sweet chutney. slow baked and served hot with shredded Colby cheese.

Seared asparagus with a lemon butter glaze
Twice baked potatoes
chilled German Coleslaw

A light white wine for a palate cleaner be fore the food
A soft fruity Merlot for the meal
followed by a full body coffee with hints of chocolate

A fruit cooler made from pineapple, orange and 7-up

Desert
Baklava, gently warmed and sprinkled with addition nuts and topped with cinnamon/caramel glaze.

remember, NO CALORIES!

Wow, that’s some bird, a green jay....not a native of Wisconsin that’s for sure! If I saw him in my backyard I’d guess he was an escapee from the zoo!

He’s beautiful!

listening to Moonlight Sonata...

Oh, I love Moonlight Sonata! I am not a good traveler, so when we flew to Australia (10 hours!), I took that music with me in my head and listened to it all the way. I had every note memorized. It is so very calming. Now, with my iPod, I could actually take the music with me, but with the economy as it is, I don't think we will be going on any extended plane trips for awhile.

Does your dentist have music and headsets you can use while in the chair?

Yummy ... I'll be right there!

Good morning, JOHNN.
Thank you for bringing that delicious lunch.
It's a good thing it had no calories .... I would've gained 10 lbs. :)

Wishing you a delightful Monday.

Very lovely graphic and sweet poem this morning, girls! I kinda feel like that girl looks today. Have an eye appointment....don’t mind that, but would rather be home.
I hope you both have a wonderful day today and I will do my best to see you later. ((((((Billie and Amy))))))
