Well, until 1991, the most visible "prophecy teachers" asserted ad nauseum that the Soviet Empire was the Red Dragon that their favorite mythical superherod superhero, Aunty Christ, would ride to power. God had something else in mind -- and a lie with the power to define life for more than a billion people lost its credibility overnight. At this point, the fortune tellers revealed the paucity of their integrity. Rather than admitting that their confident assertions of history's vector were in error -- they began frantically searching for another antichrist candidate to cower/grovel before.
Do you have any idea how irritating this craven ingratitude must be to God? He had delivered us from the plausible fear of gruesome nuclear annihilation -- and those who claimed to speak for Him couldn't even stop their bitching and moaning long enough to say "Thanks!"
There are now two world-spanning ideologies resisting the Gospel -- smug "enlightenment" secularism, and Islam. These idiots are calling God's wrath down on our heads with their mercenary ingratitude, inviting Him to deal with secularism first, Islam later.
Those who join in the chorus of contempt for God's power and mercy are not doing us any favors, no matter how loudly they try to use God's Word as a ouija board, a fortune-telling tool.
