What OS are you running and why upgrade? The Win 7 enhancements (to Vista) appear to be more cosmetic then performance based.
There's also a hardware compatabily issue too. I'd start here first ...

All of the other posts, forums and sites say that W7 enhances performance and uses far less resources. Perhaps you have a link to a article explaining your statement.

The Win 7 enhancements (to Vista) appear to be more cosmetic then performance based. Many of the Win 7 enhancements are performance based, shaving memory requirements and cutting how much background services eat into your experience. It's been faster than XP for me in two side-by-side, identical virtual environments.
