Absolutely lovely SWAMPSNIPER. Thank you once again.

Annually the Rockin’ QS Ranch becomes the Summer home to the migration of Hooded Orioles from the Yucatan. They arrive anytime from the end of February through mid April and stay with us until the latter part of September.

The boys always precede the girls about two weeks in arrival, and the boys leave for the Yucatan about two weeks prior to the girls, and the young ‘uns departure. There are always five or six young females and their late hatchlings that stay on for a little longer preparing for their journey.

I hope to someday spend the time to figure out how to post pictures of them to the internet to share with you and everyone else.

I live in the sticks but I do like going to Hidden Lake Gardens not far from home. Its run by MSU and actually is a pretty nice place to spend an afternoon and $3. I’ve gotten to where I walk most of it but you can drive a good bit of it.

It wasn’t a great day for photography when I went but I’m pretty pleased with some of the photos I got.
