That really is a buck of a lifetime! Certainly fires me up to get in a tree this afternoon in some miserable weather. Since he was hunting from an elevated position, isn’t it possible that the ‘high’ shot is the entrance wound and that the angle could have actually made this a vitals shot?

Not sure which picture you are referring to, but there also seems to be an entrance(?) wound in the shot from the first picture at about the same elevation. I am curious what the actual elevation was at 44 yards.

Beautiful buck and a great shot none the less...
