I received this TechRepublic tip in an email. I posted it as a separate thread since it involves a dual boot situation vs. upgrade. I thought those who’ve posted on this thread would find it informative.

I haven't read anything that makes me feel the need to upgrade for home computing.
Other than fancier bells and whistles, 7 doesn't seem to have anything spectacularly new and must-have.
I will stick with XP. If later it looks like 7 is necessary, I would opt to buy a new computer. Tigerdirect has '7 loaded' laptops and desktops starting at around $350. Considering that 7 itself is $199 up, that is more than half the cost of a new computer -- preloaded.
