Courtney Kistler is a 28-year-old single gal who lives in New York City. She's sociable, outgoing and attractive. But that hasn't stopped Kistler's mother from worrying that her daughter, a freelance marketer, will never catch a husband--because she owns three cats.
"[My parents] think it's a little weird," she says of her multiple cat ownership. In fact, Kistler's mother has been known to ask her cat-loving daughter: "What if you want to bring a guy home? What would he think?"
While Kistler's last boyfriend wasn't too fond of her felines (he refused to pet them), the two men she dated before that (who both grew up with cats) were fine with them. Still, her mother worries. Says Kistler: "She's bought into the stereotype, and what am I going to do? I can't deny it exists."
Laura Adamson, a 23-year-old graduate student in Gainesville, Fla. recently learned some of the negative responses that can befall a single woman with a cat. After she adopted a kitten that had been tied up in a pillowcase tossed to the side of the road, Adamson began telling people her new pet's miracle story. Instead of being awed, some of her listeners called her a "crazy cat lady." She adds: "Usually they follow it up with 'Do you take the cat for walks?' or 'Does it eat at the table with you?' "

I’d hit it.
I think that somewhere in the equation, you have to factor in one’s ability to stand the pervasive smell of cat pee.
I absorbed a feral kitteh into our household a few months ago. I was the first human to ever pick her up, we think. she is balck as night. I have been advised to hide her until Halloween has passed, because some folks are mean to black cats at this time of year.
Now there’s some imagery I can get on board with, thanks!
LOL! WHO CARES! Any guy that isn't compassionate towards animals is a L O S E R.
How many of those smelly loud annoying needy dogs do you own? In my experience, men who own dogs tend to be very needy. On the other hand, women who help cats are very nuturing and want to help.
I went over to my girlfriends house...and she had the nicest p---y.
Oh come on people, I was talking about her cat! I'm sorry, you can't say anything these days without people taking it as dirty. It disgusts me.
That cat was the best ---- I ever had
Then you need to get out more.....and meet more people. People who own cats aren’t needy and are more likely to be Republicans. People who need and have dogs are people who need to be needed and can’t stand living or being alone. They are always on the phone and tend to go to bars more. Partiers and Democrats.
It's great you get them fixed, but when you feed them the cheap chinese food, you are giving them diseases. Do you do the same for your dogs?
I have exactly 42 smelly loud needy annyoing dogs, and I need them like a flower needs the sun. Why? What are you suggesting?
Is that typo? Even , if you have 4 dogs -—then I am suggesting that you ________________________________________ and can never ever make fun of a woman who even owns 10 cats. Cats don’t smell, fart, eat poop, bark constantly, need to be let out, annoy you for constant attention, drool and slober over everything or kill people. People who own dogs are basically very needy and their house STINKS All the time. The cats litter box can be washed out....but the rest of the house is summer fresh. Dog people are the worst.
Cat people like clean, dainty, small, quiet lovable things.....like cats.
the crazy cat baby says “moar kitteh pics, kthx!”
LOL He was trying to pet the monitor, it was soooooo cute.... “kitty, kitty, awwwwwwwwwww kitty!”
call me!
I see...you’re right.
....and she is unanimous in that!
Great thread..........thx for the Ping! Have a great day!
You are very wise to do that. We have two black cats and keeping them out of harm's way on Halloween is a ritual for us. Sadly there are quite a few sickies in this world that might like to get their hands on them for nefarious purposes.
