Ya, a 223 can’t come close to terminal performance of a .45/.50 cal “slug”. Simple matter of sectional density.
RE 308: In Wisc., it goes by caliber. Cannot hunt big game with .22 or smaller. Small game is OK. If you want a 308, I think you can just get an upper and some mags. I’m sure someone here will correct me if I’m wrong about that.

I bet I put 500 rounds through the Panther! The barrel turned from black to grey! I guess I heated it up!
That jam was from a Rem UMC from BassPro....one of my mags had SandB, Brownbear, and umc...the umc failed to extract...resulting in a feed jam

I got Tom hooked on the High Standard AR15 and the tennis balls.
I told him when he could successfully blow them out of the water *with a backspin* so the went back upstream everytime *he would Be A MAN* L0L
