I do not mind the idea of uniforms in a private school, but uniforms in a goverment school? no way, its too much like the Adolf Hitler thinking.

As I said, uniforms in public schools solve a lot of problems. Poor kids are dressed just like the rich,, so no friction there. Gang members cannot display their colors. Offensive messages on shirts are out, as is sexually provocative clothing. Anyone dressed differently on campus stands out as a potential intruder, increasing safety.

As for families, with uniforms there are no morning arguments about the appropriateness of an outfit, as well as no argument at the clothing store about school clothes.

I'm not talking about a UNIFORM like the military or scouts wear. Just some khaki or dark pants, socks & hard sole shoes, & 2-3 collared shirts, pull over or button up. Similar for girls.

This is the uniform of my local public schools, & it makes good sense & saves some good cents for families, too.

I don't buy your Hitler comparison. Our brave soldiers wear a uniform, scouts wear uniforms, park rangers, firemen, & policemen wear uniforms. Clearly, the best part of America wears a uniform. Even Captain Kirk wore a uniform! :) I don't recall Hitler when I see these people, nor when I see kids dressed uniformly in school.

What I have seen recently that reminds me of Hitler is the video of school kids singing the “Mmmmm Mmmmm Mmmmmm” song. I don't believe I saw any uniforms. Liberals (nothing personal) hate uniforms. I am far more concerned about what kids learn in school that what they wear.
