Well, depends on what you want. A field bred retriever can be an awful handful, I have one that's a half and halfer and one that's almost 100% field bred. When the half field girl was a pup she was a handful, but she settled down around 2 1/2. The field girl is 3 plus and is still a complete loon.

She does love to retrieve, though.

Beautiful pictures,,,,I have a black lab that is sweet but a wuss..The other dog is just a dog, cannot find any breed type in her but she is a quick learner...

Years back has a beautiful red Siberian husky with amber eyes....dug fox holes in the yard, ate snow fences for snacks and loved to tear carpet off the floor....Beautiful but totally untrainable except for sit.

But he did love to wrestle and it would be hard for me to get him down....if I did, he laid perfectly still, I wouldn't move my body just loosen my arm muscles a little and he would be off and wrestling again....He would wait for that slightly looser feel, in wrestling he was smart as a whip....
