Love those theories that end with a bang....maybe an impact started a cascade of events leading to the dinosaur demise but thinking it was something smaller and more virulent than a dust cloud. The fallout may have damaged plant life, cutting off ample food supply to herbivores, which in turn were in a weakened state and more susceptible to disease. A disease ravaged food supply effected viability of carnivores and the lack of predation or scavenging the depleted populations allowed small proto mammals to flourish and succeed, robbing nests of eggs of the survivors further exacerbated (I always wanted to use that word...somewhere) the plight of the mega fauna.

Proto mammals profited on the cascading events at the end of Dinosaur rule through raids on unprotected dino progeny, adaptation to changing market availability and ruthless exploitation of weakened or failed competitors.

Ergo, the proto mammalians were the first Capitalists and Capitalism killed the dinosaurs!
