I am an artist-blacksmith in California and I use strictly Kentucky coal, from the Cumberland-Elkhorn Mine, in my coal-forge. It is the very best I know of. Costly, and a pain to get, but worth it!

Go Kentucky Coal!

That seam runs right through my County. Best coal anywhere. 13,800 BTU coal. Burns hot; low sulphur. Clean and can be made cleaner....
