Avi Nelson ran in the ‘78 GOP primary against the ultraliberal Ed Brooke (and nearly beat him). He never ran against Kennedy.

My bad. I used to work with his MIT roommate who fed me that disinformation.

I haven't lived in Mass for ten years but I can give a referral, I had an advantage in that his boss was a friend.

If you get in that situation remember, Attack, Attack, and then Attack, Marshal Foch. Remember that Women are Vicious animals when cornered and Judges are lazy.

“How can you prevent something that is supposed to happen?”

I may not be able to prevent it, but I’m sure tired of subsidizing it. It’s a big leap saying that something is “supposed” to happen and then expecting others to pay for it.

I want to avoid that situation (27 going on forever, I hope?) but you never know when you’ll need a savage lawyer.

Why not just teach them self respect/confidence instead of self esteem? And encourage them to concentrate on their resumes instead of looks.

In Merry Old England, back in the Old Oppressive Days, the Middle Ages, the boys and girls danced around the May Pole and examined each others wares.

At about 18 for the boys, provided that they would be good providers, to the eyes of a 16 year old girl, the mating ritual began. The girl then would drag the unwilling target into the woods and let him ravish her, first blood is a Green Dress, the Diamond ring of the era. My Aunt, family researcher, mentioned that the Priest and the foaling were suspiciously close together, in the West of England. It is my understanding that those that dallied in the grotto of the same girl which expanded at the seventh or eighth month used to Draw Staws to preserve the Maidens honor.

I agree thats why it would be better to start programs that give the girls tools to survive and train them to actually do a job compaired to just handing them a welfare check/foodstamps every month.

That’s what K-12 school is for. Why am I, a single guy with no kids, expected to keep subsidizing, training and retraining other peoples’ children ad infinitum ?

It’s like drug rehab - mabye once, then you’re on your own.

Wouldnt you feel better about doing it if it were more positive and created a better outcome. Instead the way the system is set up now it makes a person a dependent of the state. It isnt set up so a person can become a independent memeber of society. Welfare needs to be changed so people are working for their welfare checks and no just getting a hand out.

When my wife and I married, at 19, we lived in an apartment building that was mostly section 8 renters. I went to work all day and my wife went to school finishing her degree. We had no money at all for fun. The other tenants, “single” women with kids, had Uncle Sam paying all the bills so they had the entire income from their live-in boyfriend to play with.

My wife used to cry on Friday nights watching the other girls go out to have fun. That still pisses me off.

Sounds like you and your wife worked yourself up in the world.
Whereas its probably safe to say those “wellfare queens” are still on the drool, along with their daughters and granddaughters.

Dear Pilated:

You were fortunate that your family was supportive; however, there are a great many young ladies whose families are not supportive. Their families are destructive.

A co-worker of mine who had a child out of wedlock grew up in an abusive household, with a drunk mother and a stream of "boyfriends" (one of whom sexually abused her at 6 years old, only to have the mother defend the creep!). Thankfully, in between the parade of booze, drugs, and boyfriends, she was married for a short time to a decent man. My co-worker went to live with him for a while, and considers him her father (even though he is no relation to her).

Sadly, folks, there are some real horror stories out there. Families so disfunctional it would make your head spin. Entire neighborhoods where life skills and job skills are simply frowned upon or mocked, so they go unlearned and untaught.

Our kids are blessed, really, to be raised with parents who actually cook a meal, have clean clothes for school, who make sure they do their homework and know where they are when the lights go out.

If we don't get to these young ladies know, and empower them to turn their lives around, we will condemn not just them - but their children, as well - to a lifetime of sub-par existence. And, ultimately, we will pay the price. In taxes, crime, you name it.

But we will pay.

Yes I understand many are not as lucky as me. I get tired of being included in the horror stories. There are MANY of us who have have success stories but you never hear about those. I refused any “government help” as it was a trap then and still is. I did much better staying away from “professional” community helpers.
