OK. How was Gardner safe at 3rd in the 10th?
Man, I thought the umps were drugged last night.
Me too.
Oh my gosh, me too!
YANKEES WIIIIIIIIN!!!!!!!
what are you on dial-up?
But it's in the books now. DUMB DUMB play by Gardner at third. If it goes through, he walks home. What was he thinking???
The monkey is off Aroid's back now. Good news for the Yanks.
Pettitte closes it out at the Metrodome! Go Spankees!
9 more to go. Yankees win theeeeee Yankees win!!!!
Robertson was the right pitcher for that situation. His fastballs come in low. Nothing was up. Just low fastballs on the corners. That was the key. And steady D from the Yankee infield.
“Bases loaded, no outs, and Twins managed not to score.
Thats hard to do.”
It’s surprisingly easy to do. In general it happens about 20% of the time.
Current day baseball teams seem to have forgotten how to bunt. Anything resembling a decent bunt by Damon would have scored Gardner with the winning run in the 10th inning. Instead he hit a line drive into a double play and ended the inning. What is the point of swinging away with one out and the fastest man in the league on third base?
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Yeah, Twins got robbed on that. And didn’t the next two batters get on base? So they probably would have scored that inning.

*****
Huh?
That means there is an 80% chance of success.
I’ve withheld all comments that come to mind because I would prefer not to be banned from posting. Time to hit the bars where I’m sure I will hear even worse things...
I saw at least on bad strike call on the Yankees.
guess that seems kinda lame compared to that missed fair ball but still.
“I saw at least on bad strike call on the Yankees.’
Quite a few. In general the ball and strike umpiring has been atrocious in the postseason. I’m in favor of replacing the umpire with a robot.
Please. No more robots.
Yankee fan
Watched the game: Home plate umpire needs glasses. No friggin clue what he was calling for both sides. Where the hell was his strike zone? No rhyme or reason.
Twins definitely had ground rule double in 10th inning. I was agreeing with hitter that was pissed at umps and his coach for not giving hell to umps.
BTW, I’m old school baseball. I hate seeing pitchers changed like songs on an IPod. I’ll never get used to pitchers have pitch-counts and leaving games in 4th or 7th while still dominating. Thankfully Yankees have depth in their bullpen.
I think in general umpires have been exposed as at best incompetent and at worst completely useless. In recent years we’ve gotten used to have multiple HD angles with which to analyze all of their screwups. I’ve been left wondering if they’ve always been this bad and we just didn’t have the means to check on them.
The umpires were horrible tonight. They were horrible last night in the Sox/Angels game as well. They’ve been horrible all season. Tonight, Meriwether’s ball/strike calls were horrible and certainly seemed to favor the Twins. Did that lead to runs? I have no idea. Span was out at first early in the game. The Twins didn’t score that inning, but it still should not have been missed. Late in the game, Mauer clearly had a ground-rule double. An umpire looking right at the play missed the call. How does that happen? Now, I’m not one to believe the Twins definitely would have scored - after all, they did get a single with Mauer on second and he did not score, so not only is there no guarantee the next batter singles anyway there’s also no guarantee Mauer gets sent home.
In any case, I’d be in favor of getting rid of umpires altogether.
