Readers may recall Aesop's fable of the snake persuading a buffalo to give him a ride across the river if the snake promised not to bite. Once across, the snake of course bites the bison and responds with, "Well, you knew what I was when you gave me the ride."
And so, we continue to embrace the culture of Islam, ever-so hopeful that a cult which has nurtured and nourished the last eleven thousand terrorist plots killing thousands of men, women, and children, will not pick us to be next.
Under the banner of tolerance we have failed to take Muslims seriously, failed to recognize the malevolent dogma of Islam that demands its followers practice violent and deadly Intolerance. We cower in their presence, careful not to "offend," and watch Muslims use the freedoms that are unique to our way of life as a weapon against all freedom because to our current liberally influenced Americans to be intolerant is a fate worst than death.
We have failed to understand the word "Allah" pre-dates Islam, long before Mohammed, and referenced an astral cult who worshiped the sun, moon and stars. Wielding their vengeful justice, they killed by the light of a full moon...the "blood moon."
We fail to grasp people who scream "peace" while refusing to live along-side anyone who does not share their belief. We fail to grasp the significance of Muslims not allowing Christian church's to be built on their land under penalty of death.
We have failed to grasp Islam's goal is not for territory or political freedom, but for global cultural domination and they plan wars not based on weeks or months but decades and centuries. We eagerly surrender ourselves to a skulking cult because for so many, we have subordinated old fashioned American character and "guts" because it is easier to become a surrendering coward than to stand-up to thugs.
American culture is awash in trivial minutia of information that's meaningless and has no relevance to their daily life. Benjamin Franklin must have looked ahead to our time in the future when he warned that our democracy required: "A nation of well informed men who have been taught to know and prize the rights which God has given them cannot be enslaved. It is in the region of ignorance that tyranny begins." Why don't we care enough about the lives today or the lives of our children to look these things up?
The PEW Research Center survey among Muslims living in America disclosed 26 per cent of those age 18 to 29 believe that suicide bombing can be justified. Translated to simpler terms, this represents 250,000 living here in the United States who think it's "okay" to bomb you. The same survey revealed 39 per cent of this same age group believe that Muslims in America should remain distant from our society at large.
The PEW numbers alone should raise the eyebrow of anyone who still maintains this outfit is "peaceful.'' Among other goodies the PEW research discovered was Muslims living in America being "clearly concerned over U.S. foreign policy and its impact on Muslims around the world." Muslims take full advantage of our existing laws interpreted by liberal courts to file 2,500 civil-rights complaints in 2006. (The number will be closer to 4,000 in 2007 at the current rate of advocacy group filings). I find this incredulous.
What a waste of our resources and sincere good intentions Muslims are slaughtering non-Muslims in 44 countries today and THEY are worried how America impacts them!? According to PEW, 60 per cent of Muslims consider themselves "Muslims first. They have no intention of assimilating our "melting pot" culture.
Islam makes no effort to hide their intent to eradicate Israel and the western culture that has befriended her. Muslims moving to the United States refuse to blend with our culture... their holy book, the Quar'an, expressly forbids them to do so.
Muslims in America are "offended" by everything that is America. Terrorism is the backbone of the deen [Islamic way of life]. Allah said "to terrify the enemies we should prepare ourselves [Jihad]. Jihad is a religious obligation. It is the religious obligation of a father to teach his son to be a mujahideen to protect the authority of sharia law. Mohammed took part in 27 offensive jihads.
My first question to the reader is to ask any Muslim to explain their feelings about Jews and their historic ambition to annihilate the Jewish nation. My second question for the reader involves human nature: If you were a member of say, the Lutheran Church, and that denomination was murderously butchering non-Lutherans around the globe would you continue to be a member? Would you and other Lutherans call for accountability of these actions?
Speaking "peace" with one tongue and ignoring or denying the global Muslim slaughtering of innocent people would not make sense to Sigmund Freud or any rational human. Training young children to kill as many innocent bystanders as possible is far from "peaceful"; it is demonic madness. Until Muslims living in the United States begin denouncing, often and loudly, the bloodlust their cult propagates, then they have no intentions of becoming "American."
Until Muslims can live and work in our communities without suing someone for mentioning "bacon," they have no intentions of becoming "American." Until Muslims denounce the currency of fear to press Islam's global agenda they will be taken for exactly what they are: A murderous, envious cult killing their way into the gates of a blood covered moon god. Until Americans begin standing these cultists up for their culpable silence to murder, we as a nation fall further into the pit of Muslim hell and closer to the day our grandchildren will wear sharia clothing.
American citizens must take back our nation and loudly denounce elected officials who kiss the ass of wretched Muslim cultists who derive their place in heaven from the shrapnel of car bombs and the blood of women and children. But that's not going to happen until Americans can begin paying closer attention to Islam's move into their neighborhoods and less attention to what a starlet ate for lunch.
If we don't act now, our sovereignty and freedoms will be drowned-out by the shrill din of five daily calls to Muslim prayer that are heard in France and England each day. The most popular baby name in England now is "Mohammed." Wake up America. Is a "blood moon" in your future?
that sounds to me about the same as asking 'so in what paragraph of 'Dreams' does obama say he was NOT born in Hawaii...
I quoted one that says they do.
just as I could probably find a statement in 'Dreams' that suggests he was...
Wheres your later verse that abrogates it?
now, why would anyone other than a muslim bother to take note of anything written in a book anywhere...when, what is written is further along DENIED, CONTRADICTED OR TAKEN BACK?
That's a very contradictory fella, that allah...mohammad's sock puppet. Mohammad could make his allah say anything he liked and when it suited him. The 'revelations' always came just at the right time.

Scholars Are Quietly Offering New Theories of the Koran
By ALEXANDER STILLE
To Muslims the Koran is the very word of God, who spoke through the Angel Gabriel to Muhammad: “This book is not to be doubted,” the Koran declares unequivocally at its beginning. Scholars and writers in Islamic countries who have ignored that warning have sometimes found themselves the target of death threats and violence, sending a chill through universities around the world.
Yet despite the fear, a handful of experts have been quietly investigating the origins of the Koran, offering radically new theories about the text’s meaning and the rise of Islam.
Christoph Luxenberg, a scholar of ancient Semitic languages in Germany, argues that the Koran has been misread and mistranslated for centuries. His work, based on the earliest copies of the Koran, maintains that parts of Islam’s holy book are derived from pre-existing Christian Aramaic texts that were misinterpreted by later Islamic scholars who prepared the editions of the Koran commonly read today.
So, for example, the virgins who are supposedly awaiting good Islamic martyrs as their reward in paradise are in reality “white raisins” of crystal clarity rather than fair maidens...

That is only part of the problem, the political aspect of Islam is the biggest threat. They will destroy us from within.

Muslims insist that the name Allah must be used in every language; it can NOT be translated, e.g., Dios in Spanish, Dieu in French, Gott in German, God in English. But Allah isn't in fact a generic name for God at all. It is the name of a particular god. Allah is a contraction of Al-ilah, meaning "the chief god." Allah was the chief god in the Kaaba that contained about 360 idols in it (one for everybody that passed through Mecca). A lot of money was made in that idol temple. Paul gave a seromon on Mars Hill ridiculing the Roman pantheon of gods, stating "you even have one called the 'unknown god' in case you missed one". And so it was with the Ka'aba.
Ilah is a generic Arabic term for "god", which can be found all through the Quran, e.g., the shahada: La ilaha I Allah, Muhammadan Rasoulu Allah. Part of the Arabic translation states there is no ilah but Allah. Millions have done so under threat of death. How Muslims can imagine that sincere "faith" is produced under such intimidation is beyond comprehension. Nevertheless, once one has uttered that confession, one is forever Muslim and bound by the jurisdiction of sharia.
Islam's prophet commanded, "He who relinquishes his faith, kill him!" That penalty is still the rule in Islam (though not always enforced). Executions are announced on Saudi radio and TV in advance and carried out before cheering crowds in Riyadh's "chop-chop" square. In October 1993, for example, a father and son were publicly beheaded for having believed in Jesus Christ. No non-Muslim place of worship may be built, and while it is technically legal to have a prayer meeting or Bible study in the privacy of one's home, participants could be jailed or deported. Such is the "freedom" and "peace" Muslims intend to force upon the entire world.
In any case, what is Allah doing in a temple with 360 idols if he is the same God of the Bible which prohibits idols? Why does Islam keep this temple of idolotry? While it no longer contains the original idols, it does contain the Black Stone. Islam insists that Muslims must make pigrimage there, to kiss the stone, run between Safa and Marwa, and climb Mount Arafa. This was practiced by pious pagan Arabs centuries before Muhammad. And yet, Allah, supposed God of the Bible, requires these pagan rituals to this day?
That Allah is in fact the chief of all idols formerly contained in the Ka'aba is documented history:
The desert Arab...feared and worshipped incalculable deities in stars and moons...Now and then he offered human sacrifice; and here and there he worshipped sacred stones. The center of this stone worship was Mecca [with] the Kaaba and its sacred Black Stone...in the southeast corner, five feet from the ground, just right for kissing...Sixteen times the Qur'an says Allah is not a father and has no son. Not a father, but having 3 daughters. When Muhammad had to flee Mecca he returned to his birthplace, Yathrib. He tried to convert the Christians and the Jews there, who the early parts of the Quran called the people of the book, telling them that Allah is the only true God. But they knew who Allah is: Allah is the chief god in the Kaaba. So the Jews and Christians at the time wouldnt buy into that. So Muhammad turns against them and began to kill them. After killing all the Christian and Jewish male inhabitants, and sold the women and children into slavery, he renamed the city Madina, i.e., "city of the prophet". Muhammad's dying words were, may Allah curse the Christians and the Jews.Within the Kaaba, in pre-Moslem days, were several idols representing gods. One was called Allah...three others were called Allah's daughters - al-Uzza, al-Lat, and Manah. We may judge the antiquity of this Arab pantheom from the mention of al-il-Lat (al-Lat) by Herodotus [5th century Greek historian] as a major Arab deity. The Quraish [Muhammad's tribe controlling Mecca] paved the way for monotheism by worshipping Allah as the chief god; he was presented to the Meccans as the Lord of their soil, to Whom they must pay a tithe of their crops and the first born of their herds. The Quraish, as alleged decendents of Abraham and Ishmael, appointed the priests and guardians of the shrine and managed its revenues1
Hundreds of promises by Hebrew prophets inspired of Jahweh had foretold the coming of the Messiah, His life, teaching and miracles, His rejection by His own people, His crucifixion, resurrection and ascension to the Father. The Babe born of a virgin in Bethlehem that night would prove His identity by fulfilling all. Foretold too, and now fast approaching, was His triumphant return to reign forever in Jerusalem on the throne of His father David (Isa 9:6-7; Luk 1:32-33). No angels heralded the births and no prophecies foretold the lives and deaths of Buddha, Confucius, Muhammad or anyone else. Nor did these "messiahs" rise from the dead. Christ's grave is empty; theirs are occupied by the dust of their remains.
The Qur'an calls Jesus Isa, probably from Muhammad hearing Jews contemptuously refer to Him as Esau. Islam's central teachings in the Qur'an and hadith (tradition of equal authority to the Qur'an) directly oppose Christ and His salvation. Islamic scholars all agree that Isa is not the Son of God and was not crucified for our sins. There is general consent that Allah put a likeness of Isa upon one of His disciples, probably Judas, who died in Isa's place. Taken alive to heaven (in one version), Isa is covered with feathers and flies with angels around Allah's throne until the time he returns to marry, have children and die a natural death!
Islam makes it clear that Isa is not divine and certainly not the Son of Allah. Although in the Qur'it is stated that Isa was born of a virgin, did miracles including raising the dead (Surah 3:45-49), was sinless and even the word of God, Isa is clearly not the Jesus Christ of the Bible.
The very foundation of Christianity is that "God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son...the Father sent the Son to be the Savior of the world..." (Jn 3:16; 1 Jn 4:14, etc., etc.) The Qur'an says Christ is not the Son of God, did not die for our sins on the cross-someone died in His place, so He did not rise from the dead, and anyone who believes in the Trinity goes to hell.
Hundreds of verses declare that the God of the Bible calls the Jews His chosen people, that He loves them and gave them the land of Israel as an heritage forever. In contrast, Islam and Allah express hatred for Israel and all Jews. The Qur'an and authoritative Islamic tradition cited in the hadith vilify the Jews repeatedly:
Because of the wrongdoing of the Jews...We have prepared for [them] a painful doom" (Surah 4:160-161); Allah hath cursed them [the Jews] for their disbelief (4:46); Allah fighteth against them. How perverse are they! (9:30); Ignominy shall be their portion wheresoever they are found...(3:112); The resurrection of the dead will not come until the Muslims will war with the Jews and the Muslims will kill them;...the trees and rocks will say, O Muslim...here is a Jew behind me, come and kill him.2Moroever, Islamic eschatology is steeped in hatred of the Jews:
The last hour will not come before the Muslims fight the Jews, and the Muslims kill them.3In Muslim lands for 1,300 years, Jews suffered from inhumane treatment and periodic bursts of violence. Take only one country, Morocco, as an example of what occurred everywhere under Muslim rule. Jews were forced to live in ghettos called mellahs. One historian writes that rape, looting, burning of synagogues, destruction of Torah scrolls and murder were "so frequent that it is impossible to list them."4 As only one instance of many, in Fez, in A.D.1032, about 6,000 Jews were murdered and many more "robbed of their women and property." 5 Such slaughter continued periodically in Fez and throughout Morocco (as in other Muslim countries). Interestingly, the fierce persecution of 1640 in which women and children were murdered was called the al-Khada. Chouraqui (p 39) says that Jews suffered "such repression, restriction and humiliation as to exceed anything in Europe."
Allah can NOT be the God of the Bible if the Jews are NOT chosen by Allah. It gets better though. Allah commands Muslims "Take not the Jews and Christians as friends." (Surah 5:51; Al Hil-ali, v54, Jusuf Ali) So Allah is not the God of Christians either.
The God of the Bible chose Jerusalem as His Holy City. 40 times He calls it the "city of David" and repeatedly promises that the Messiah will be decended from David and will rule on David's throne in Jerusalem over the whole world (II Chr 6:6; 33:7; II Sam 7:16; Psa 89:3-29, etc.). Neither Mecca, nor Medina, but Jerusalem is mentioned more than 800 times. But Allah never mentions Jerusalem.
Muslims insist that Allah is a single being. Therefor being the God of the Bible - who is love (I Jno 4:8) - is an impossiblity for Allah. Muslims insist that he can NOT be love in and of himself until he created others; there was no one to love. The God of the Bible is love in and of Himself, in that He is three persons in one; the Father, Son and Spirit loved and communed with one another before men or angels were created.
Even so Jews know that Allah is not God, they try to say that Jehovah is a single being. However, that is inconsistent with their own Scripture in that the Bible refers to God more than 2500 times as Elohim (plural for "gods" in Hebrew). And yet, always with the plural noun there is a singular verb. This is not only unparalled in any other literature anywhere at any time, but absolutely illogical (not just in the magnitude of repetition, but its retained use througout the ages).
Deu 6:4 is the most fundamental shema about God for a Jew. Far from declaring that the God of the Bible is singular, the Hebrew word translated here as "one" is eschad, which is the unity of several becoming one. This can be seen in Gen 2:24; II Sam 2:25; Eze 37:17, etc.
That notwithstanding, not once is "love" listed in the index of Marmaduke Pickthall's translation of the Koran. Of Allah's 99 attributes, love is not one. The Koran does concede that Allah does love "the beneficient" (Surah 2:195), "the steadfast [and] those whose deeds are good" (Surah 3:146-48), and "those who battle for his causes" (Surah 6:41). Nowhere does the Koran state that Allah loves all mankind, much less sinners, or those that hate him. Allah is claimed to be merciful, but does not show mercy to those who need it. The God of the Bible in contrast loves all, desiring that NONE should perish, is merciful to all, and ready to forgive confessed sin.
The first commandment of The Law in the Bible stipulates that we are to love the God of the Bible. And yet nowhere in the Koran is it implored of a Muslim to love Allah. That would in fact be an impossibility because Allah is unknowable because he is too great. And yet, the God of the Bible repeatedly calls upon men to know Him. Despite being infinite, without beginning and end, and Creator of the universe, the biblical God has chosen to reveal Himself in ways that men CAN know Him (Jno 17:3).
There is NO love greater than this: that while we were still sinners God sent His only begotten son to die for us as a propitiatory sacrifice, that by His grace, through faith in the sufficiency of His word, we may partake in a vicarious attonement for our sins and thereby be justified and reconciled unto Him.

Great informative post!
Thank you.
Elohim is essentially the same word as ilah (Arabic for god), Allah (Arabic for The God) and Elaha (Aramaic for The God).
These are all related Semitic languages.
Elohim is also used many times in the Bible to refer to pagan gods, powerful men and even to angels. It is a title, not a proper name, and is most definitely not limited to God.
I do believe you are missing my point. I do not claim the God Muslims worship is identical to the God Christians and Jews worship.
Which God is which is well above my pay grade.
I am merely pointing out that Muslim doctrine, as spelled out very precisely in the Koran, is that Muslims believe they worship the same God as the People of the Book.
Fine. I hereby grant you permission to continue to believe untruths if that makes you happy.
Intelligent people generally want to know as much as possible about those who want to kill them. Ignorance of the enemy often leads to underestimating him, which leads directly to events such as 9/11.
I will not post to you any more.
I have only taken note because what we have been discussing is what Muslims believe. Since Muslims believe the Koran is Ultimate Truth, written by the Finger of God and co-existing with God for all eternity, what it says is pretty important to them.
Personally, though I've struggled through it, I find it boring and almost impossible to read, very different from (most of) the Bible.
First off, while Moslims believe the Bible to be the word of God, they do so in the same sense that Mormons and Christian Scientists do, i.e., in so far as its been properly translated or that it is incomplete and needs to be supplemented. However, conventional Muslim wisdom holds that the Bible has been corrupted.
Question: when was the Bible corrupted, i.e., before, during or after Muhammad?
Table Sura 5:68 is a testiment that it is beyond reproach. If they knew that saying, then they wouldn't dare say the Bible is corrupt; lest they blaspheme the Koran itself.
Table Sura 47 advised that if one doesn't follow the Scripture, then they are an evil-door.
In Bee Sura 43 (remembrence : the Book), the intimation being that the Bible is the last word of God and can never be changed. So why would God call upon the Moslem people to obey a corrupt book. When was the book corrupted again? Furthermore, how did an inviolable word of God become corrupted in the first place?
The fact of the matter is that the Koran was written 700 years after the New Testament. It is true that there were many times when the Jews worshipped idols. Now IF the Bible was corrupted by the Jews (after all, who else would corrupt it?), they had 700 years to whitewash their actions and get the story straight.
The Koran is THE most eloquent literature written by an illiterate man. But he was surrounded by 25 scribes (Blood Clot Sura 125)
According to the Koran, Alexander the Great was a saint; everybody knows he was the quintessential pagan (Hate Sura 64:163).
The Koran states the Pharoahs wife was Moses' mother; the Bible states that it was Pharoah's daughter.
Woman Sura 171; El Imram Sura 55 - Moslems resist the redemption of Jesus at Calvary.
THe Koran says the Jesus is the Word, spirit and essence of God. It mentions Jesus 175 times; Muhammad is mentioned 25 times. Just HOW does THAT square with the shahada? Who is greater, the sender or the messenger? (Table Sura 110)
Hadis: according to Muhammad, every single person has been pricked by the devil at birth except Jesus of Mary.
Who is the watcher of men? According to the Koran (Table Sura 116,117), Jesus was the watcher of men while on the earth. But after His ascension, God became the watcher of men. There's no other context to take that other than Jesus IS Messiah and has the same attributes AS God. Furthermore, the Koran itself suggests that Jesus is God.
If I told you that the current U.S. President, Barack Obama, is an ethnic Filipino albino born in Norway, having neither father nor mother (born to a hermaphrodite), is exactly 2 1/2 feet tall, weights about 250 pounds, speaks fluent Phonecian and frequently showers people with gold coins taken from a big black pot he finds at either ends of rainbows. Given my description of Barak Obama, we can both agree that's the same guy on the $1 bill right?
As you are no doubt aware, one can go thru and cherry-pick a great many contradictions in the Bible. And, as is probably the case with the Koran, further study in many cases shows the contradictions to often be more apparent than real.
My whole point here has been with regard to what Muslims believe, not whether what they believe is logical or rational. A good many posters here apparently believe that providing evidence that the Koran is a stupid book and Islam is a stupid religion somehow addresses the question of what Muslims believe. Or that if we try to learn more about Islam and accurately describe what Muslims believe, then we must be apologists for Islam. Apparently truth = appeasement.
BTW, every religion I'm aware of, when examined rationally by an outsider, looks absolutely crazy. Without faith there is no reason to believe any of them.
And you cannot argue faith one way or the other, since it is by definition not based on logic.
What did the arabic speaking Christians and Jews call God before Islam?

Sherman Logan, you are delibertly twisting my words; I understand perfectly well the goals of islam, and so do you.
You are a muslim apologist.
You are defending islam and all it stands for, including worshiping a black rock, and murdering anyone who doesn’t agree with you.
There is NO allah. There will not be seventy-two (72) virgins awaiting muslim men when they die.
There is not a twelfth inman hiding in a well, waiting for an opportunity to appear; he doesn’t exist. A deranged pedophile wrote a book to justify his own evil actions.
C. Rabin. in his entry "Arabiyya", in Encyclopedie de l'Islam, 2nd ed., I (Leiden et Paris, 1960), pp.579a-622b, suggests that Northern Arabic characters used by the Quran were created by the Chistian Missionaries of Hira, centuries before Islam. A tri-lingual Greek, Syriac, and Arabic inscription in Zebed dated to 512 in Aleppo states "With the help of God (الاله)! Sergius, son of Amat Manaf, and Tobi, son of Imru'l-qais and Sergius, son of Sad, and Sitr, and Shouraih."
"al-ilah" is clearly mentioned, which when elided results in the word "Allah". The etymology of Allah is quite simply the elision of the definite article "al" with the word "ilah".
Moreover, the inscription is in an early, transitional form of the Arabic script, but an important point is made with this discovery; that Christians directly influenced the development of the written Arabic script in the years before the advent of Islam.

That notwithstanding, the term Allah had been contemporary idiom by pagan Arabs for centuries before any Christians were ever present in Arabia. It would seem logical that Christian Arabs would use the term "al-ilah" during pre-Islamic times so as to differentiate 'the god' they were representing (Jesus) from the Arab pagan god Allah. What 'advantage' then to Christians with respect to reversion to using the Arab pagan reference to Allah when referencing the God of the Bible (which includes Jesus)? If Arabic speaking Christians today were still using the term al-ilah there would be no problem. The only logical conclusion that I can draw is that the elision became the colloquial idiom for the word God in Arabic. The pagan, Islamic and Arabic reference to Allah allude to three different things; its context that determines the precise connotation intended.
In Arabic, "Allah" is the DEFINITE form of "ilah", i.e., "al-ilah" elided, and conveys the meaning "the God" (so as to distinguish from any arbitrary other). The plural form of al-ilah is allahuma, which is very similar to the Hebrew 'elohim. Make NO mistake, however, there is no assertion of allahuma with regards to the nature of the Allah of Islam. Such assertion is a distinction particular to the "Allah" of the Bible (to use the Arabic idiom). There can be NO confusion between the two, Q.E.D.
Consider the following testiment from a Moslem:
Allah or God or Bagwan or any other words used for that authority who create the whole universe including all living things. But Allah is the name used by Allah in his book Quran. We being muslim believe that the whole universe and all the objevts inside it are created by the Allah and the whole this system is run by the Will of the Allah. This same is believe by christians and Hindus. Whatever is the name used by any religion, or by any name you called Allah or God the meaning is the same.Does that make sense? Allah is NOT a name for a god, e.g., Ba'al. Allah is a reference to a specific entity, as is the reference "the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob" which actually is more restrictive than the Hebrew 'elohim. Although none of them are actually names, the latter two ARE specific in the nominative AND qualitative sense, and both distinguish themselves apart from the particular Allah of Islam. In that sense, I don't believe that the Koran alludes to a name for Allah, in the same sense that the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is referenced by divine name YHWH. The first of 6,828 appearances of this in the Biblical record is found in Gen 2:4, i.e., "Lord God". The English being rendered not from adonay 'elohim, but an entirely new word found ONLY in Scripture.Allah is the only authority who create this system and who run this without the help of any body. Allah has no father and no son. He is alone. Allah has the unlimited powers. Allah when ever want can destroy the whole universe and whenever he wants he can create the universe again as it was before and for this job He need no help and he can do all this by just saying do and any task will done.
If the God concept other religion is the same as try to described in the above paragraph then the Allah and the God is the same other wise not.
The revelelation being made is that apparently Adam knew Him by his personal and covenantal name from the beginning, since Seth both called his son Enosh (i.e., man is a weak and dependent creature), and began to and began to call upon the name of YHWH (Gen 4:26). That covenant found fuller expression and application when God revealed Himself to Abraham (Gen 12:8). The promise made then became reality with God's declaration in Exo 3:15-17 (fully explaining His meaning of "I AM WHO I AM."). Although He spoke to the Fathers as YHWH, the fuller significance, or experienced meaning of His name where unknown to them (Exo 6:2-8). There we see Him stating that they had previously known Him "by the name of God Almighty", but they had not known Him by is other name YeHowah.
Scholars have suggested that Moses, through his personal knowledge of the Lord at the time of his writing Genesis, inserted the name YHWH into the text. However, the veracity of such hypothesis would lie with the understanding of the meaning of the Hebrew word yadah (#3034), i.e., "known". ONE meaning is "to know by instruction or experience." Israel was about to witness the events of their exodus from Egypt, a more graphic demonstration of God's power than their forefathers had ever seen. It would be by the name YeHowah that the works of salvation would be done. Israel would know by experience the full meaning of His name. Though they knew he was called "Lord" (YHWH), or lord (adonay) - the mayor, governor and President all rolled into one - the patriarchs had not seen such a demonstration of power. Therefor they had not known the full implications of YHWH.
The exceedingly interesting thing to note is the Lord's response to Jacob when he asked the Lord what His name is (Gen 32:28). At that point Jacob knew who he was dealing with - 'elohim - for Scripture states that Jacob named the place "Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved." Yeah, he lived to tell about it.
In any case, I'm not all that hung up on the Arabic idiom of Allah. Because as I've explained, Scriptures are quite explicit and crystal just WHO God is What I'd be interested to know is what are the Arabic equivalents to the aforementioned distinguishments of God. Its a moot point concerning such distinguishments in the Koran. Furthermore, its absurd to the point of ludicrous to insist that the Allah of Islam is the one and the same as the Lord God (YHWH Almighty (YeHowah); the Koran making NO such distinction. Finally, that specific discernment is absolutely predicated on theology (both proper and systematic) and not on linguistic gymnastics of semantics or etymology.
