All of which is to remark that to the Keepers of our Culture, the ideal man is Gay.

It was the case in the 1950s too when they tried to push off rockers like Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis and Gene Vincent for homosexual poster idols like Tab Hunter and Sal Mineo.

While the women were taught to swoon over Liberace and Rock Hudson.

That's an astute observation, in that the entertainment world has long been biased toward Gay idylls and themes. In the 50's though, no one really took it seriously - it was just considered "camp" and caberet material. The women certainly did not swoon over Liberace, although apparently, Rock Hudson did.
