What do you think of the H1N1 Flu Mist (vanity but serious question)

Posted on 10/07/2009 10:08:18 AM PDT by Scythian

Tomorrow is Mist all employees day where I work, almost everyone is getting it (not me). And yes, I know the Mist is the live virus but what do you guy think. It really stinks that they are coming into the office to do it (and therefore contaminate the rest of us). I guess at least for them they wont be getting all the mercury and other adjuncts (as bad anyway). Any thoughts? I'm loading up on my NAC (N-Acetyl-Cysteine) and Vitamin D or course ...

Do you think this puts us who are not getting it at risk? The thing I don't like about it is all the folks around me inhaling who knows what virus concoction ...

My family will get the vaccine. My wife has trouble even with colds that typically produce mild symptoms in others. The swine flu is dangerous because it can attach into the lungs directly, not indirectly via a secondary infection like the normal flu. I fear that she will have a very bad time if she gets the swine flu.

I have not gotten the normal flu shot in the last few years. The regular flu virus is not very effective because the flu strain is difficult to predict when the virus is designed. In addition, the normal flu mutates so the vaccine loses effectiveness. I feel that the swine flu vaccine will be more effective so I will get the swine flu vaccine.

Well, there are lots of new cases of H1N1 cropping up in my area; in my kids’ school there are now 2 confirmed cases in 6th grade and 2 cases in preschool.

rather than rush an unproven vaccine in the market place wouldn’t it have made more sense to mass produce tamaflu to fight the flu...at least they know tamaflu is safe and has proven effective against the swine flu...(just a thought)

It’s the government and it’s going to help you. What more do you need to know?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guillain-Barr%C3%A9_syndrome

always a risk

influenza was lethal back in 1918 for several reasons -— end of world war 1 and lack of ability to care for those sick and dying; lack of modern medications; lack of sanitary food and hydration. In the modern world ( even without vaccination against ‘the flu’ there are very few deaths and those usually come due to other pre-existing conditions)

I said a little prayer for you. God bless you.

I’m not particularly pro or anti vaccine either. People should be able to make their own informed choices on the matter.

There are two ways to die of the flu. You can get the flu then a secondary bacterial infection which kills you. This is why with typical flu, the elderly and ill are at increased risk. They other way to die is with a massive over reaction of the immune system. This is what was seen in the 1918 flu. This is the type of flu that kills the young and healthy.

If this flu starts killing through the immune system, being in good health and well fed places you at increased risk of dying. I also would not count on the medical system if there is a pandemic. There are a limitted number of respirators and people trained to use them. The antiviral medications will also quickly become useless.

So after lying relatively dormant for months, it's suddenly taking off, right on schedule.

Just wait until after the live virus is "released" by the "prevention experts."

Per the CDC, the stuff you are worried about is not in the vaccine at all.

I would rather take the shot than the live vaccine since it is more potent and poses a greater risk of getting a mild case of the flu from the mist.

Whew! Can you sum all that up in 3-4 words, like ‘Don’t get the shot!’?

No sick days...that’s just outrageous. There are workplaces like that?

“I fear that she will have a very bad time if she gets the swine flu.”

My wife will take the vaccine as well. She is a health care worker with a fair number of lung issues caring for swine flu patients (among others). She cannot afford to catch it. I, on the other hand, will wait to see what happens when they start administering it.

My wife is a school teacher. H1N1 has been all over her school. She and I both take a lot of C and D3 and some selenium Neither of us has caught it. In previous years we did not take the vites and she always came home with whatever was "going around" at school.

Avoid it. That is if you do not have a death wish. The vcaccine is 1000 times more dangerous than the Flu.

Just think of the Government as a used car dealer trying to sell you a lemon. Any time someone is this pushy about anything then all your red flags should go up.

If you have asthma, don’t get Flu Mist. There are other conditions that it also isn’t recommended for.

She will be contagious for 20 days according to the paper work in the Vaccine.

That is the part that the government will deny even though it’s there.

Kind of like how they say their is a social security trust fund even though everyone knows it has been spent. All their is IOUs in West Virginia. Got to love it.

Some of the suggestions made by an International Consultant General Surgeon & Gastroenterologist:

Tamiflu does not kill but prevents H1N1 from further proliferation till the virus limits itself in about 1-2 weeks (its natural cycle). H1N1, like other Influenza A viruses, only infects the upper respiratory tract and proliferates (only) there. The only portals of entry are the nostrils and mouth/ throat... Contact with H1N1 is not so much of a problem as proliferation is.

Gargle twice a day with warm salt water (use Listerine if you don't trust salt). H1N1 takes 2-3 days after initial infection in the throat/ nasal cavity to proliferate and show characteristic symptoms. Simple gargling prevents pro-liferation. In a way, gargling with salt water has the same effect on a healthy individual that Tamiflu has on an infected one.

Clean your nostrils at least once every day with warm salt water. Not everybody may be good at this, but blowing the nose hard once a day and swabbing both nostrils with cotton buds dipped in warm salt water is very effective in bringing down viral population.

Drink as much warm liquid as you can. Drinking warm liquids has the same effect as gargling, but in the reverse direction. They wash off proliferating viruses from the throat into the stomach where they cannot survive, prolifer-ate or do any harm.

My daughters are high risk (asthma & epilepsy). However, we’re waiting for the shot form (neither are available yet where we are).
