Rock amd Roll has changed over the years. It’s nice to see that the Old School is still represented.
Ping!
Shes really upset with me again,
I didnt give her what she likes.
I dont know what to tell her,
Dont know what to say.
Everything got funky last night.
She was really bombed,
And I was really blown away,
Until I asked her what she wanted,
And this is what she had to say:
A pearl necklace.
She wanna pearl necklace.
She wanna pearl necklace.
She gets a charge out of bein so weird,
Digs gettin downright strange.
But I can keep a handle on anything,
Just this side of deranged.
She was gettin bombed,
And I was gettin blown away,
And she held it in her hand
And this is what she had to say:
A pearl necklace.
She wanna pearl necklace.
She wanna pearl necklace.
Shes so cold, as pure as the driven slush.
And thats not jewelry shes talkinabout, [see notes]
It really dont cost that much.
She was gettin bombed,
And I was gettin blown away,
And she took it in her hand,
And this is what she had to say:
A pearl necklace.
She wanna pearl necklace.
She wanna pearl necklace.
My son took me to see ZZTop at Red Rocks in Denver (Morrison). I will never forget that show; all the dancing girls brought some long-haired rock and roll band to provide their music.
;^)
Who’s fuming? I had to Google Gwen Stefani
She’s a good looking babe, but I side with ZZtop on this one. Go pound sand!

A haw haw haw haw.
*chuckles*
OMG...he lit us a cigar! I’m not sure what a Stefani is...but if he had lit up a doob would it have been equally offended?
Just wondering. (Good grief..it is ZZ Top..not Barry Manilow).
I’ve heard their concerts are LOUD - eardrum splitting loud. I love ZZ Top music.
“Grab your children, run and hide.
Don't let it catch up with you.
You gotta fight it to stay alive,
and if it gets you, man, you're through.
It smells so rotten and rank.
Well, everybody calls it the squank.”
I’m of split minds of this one. On the one hand, unlike 99% of other people who have been deluded by stats about second-hand smoke*, a signer really has to watch what she inhales. On the other, it’s a rock band; you don’t really expect them to be courteous towards others’ health habits, do you, Gwen?
(* Second-hand smoke is totally noxious (literally!), and I’ll always ask for a non-smoking section if local laws leave it up to the establishment to choose to offer them. But, aside from people with specific vulnerabilities, it is rather harmless.)
It’s sad. They still rock on their instruments, which really says something that they haven’t let their skills rot. But the vocals... Kudos for still singing the same range, but the voice is Grampa Simpson’s.
Oh well, they do still rock. And it’s nice to know they haven’t moved on to Lite Classical and yogurt.
It’s ZZ Top, whose single guitar solo hear is more valuable than all the bubble gum pop like Stefani’s that’s ever been made.

Gibbons is not a bad player, but he and the band play pretty much the same song over and over again, with small variations. That’s the real drawback of a 3-man group playing 3-chord blues-rock.
Gwen Stefani is complaining about a little cigar smoke but was okay with having to have her stomach pumped from taking too much . . . (can’t write the word)?
