Eagan police issued a warning Monday to alert residents of evidence of cougars in the area.
Police said, last month officers found what appeared to be cougar feces at the police gun range located at the west end of Yankee Doodle Road near Fort Snelling State Park.
Police said they took two reports from residents who said they saw a cougar in the same area.
A third sighting was reported by a city employee. On October 2, he saw what he believed was a cougar laying in some grass in Blackhawk Park off Murphy Parkway.
Police warned residents to always be aware of their surroundings, supervise children in parks, and keep pets on a leash.
If you encounter a cougar, police suggest making yourself look bigger. Open your jacket or raise your arms. You can also throw rocks at the cougar. Never run away, turn away or bend down.

This is a heavily residential area where I grew up...
"If you encounter a cougar, police suggest making yourself look bigger."
I suggest a squared-up stance and a .40 or a .45
That's the difference between me and the cops.....

You can also throw rocks at the cougar. Never run away, turn away or bend down. Hmmm if you can't bend down to get the rocks how are you going to throw rocks?

We’ve had cougar sightings in the south metro for 10 years, or more....
The local “authorities” have always told us that we didn’t see what we saw...
They “wet” themselves because we were going to solve the problem without their oversight.....

Always carry rocks in your pockets....
Keeps you well weighted in case of wind gusts and ready for any cougar attack....

Good point. I usually carry some sand in my pockets if I am walking alone in case I get attacked. Maybe I can toss it in the attacker’s eyes & buy time to get to my buck knife since I live in the no carry state of NJ. I don’t think any cougars are here just corrupt govt, dems, gangs, gays etc. Maybe the cougars would be better to have lol.

If it wasn’t a residential area...sure.
The locals are offering up all kinds of solutions that don’t include citizen intervention....
Only they......
And the cat scat is showing up at the LEO pistol range....
Laughing, with no control......

So far. They outlawed my sharp clip on my pocket type so I just got a big ol sharp buck knife now & a boot knife that is prolly illegal. Since I am at the barn so much working with rescued horses I doubt I will get hassled. I need a knife for hay & all kinds of things... However the guy who works in the Hess gas station asked me if I was carrying a gun when he saw it. I keep it tied on through 2 belt loops with a bandana as I don't like belts. I said yup its a buckgun alright.

That's funny. I went on a short 2 hour walk with the stupid dogs here tonight after that big moon came up, and they managed to tree a young mountain lion. It only weighed about 40 lbs. I let it be, but walked out of the spot feeling eyes on my neck the whole way.
I also kept the most stupid dog next to me to use for bait in case I needed time to clear leather and aim.
