TAMPA, Florida A Florida coffee house is brewing up a buzz by selling the rarest type of coffee in the worldCat Poop Coffee.
Cat Poop Coffee comes from the Indonesian Civet which resembles a cat and eats coffee cherries off of trees.
The beans end up in the animals feces and the next step is to sift them by hand. The end result is a coffee bean considered a delicacy and only 500 pounds are made each year.
The coffee is one of the rarest in the world. The Tampa coffee shop, shown in the attached video, paid $190 per pound. Customers paid $20 for a 12 ounce cup.

Attempting to recover the lost crop led farmers to gather the civet droppings and try to reclaim them, resulting in the discovery that the droppings produced an exception coffee with unusual taste and lack of bitterness. I'll bet it has an unusual taste.

Have you ever heard of Civet Cat Coffee. It is the rarest type of coffee in the world, a delicacy in some circles. But is has a strange and almost impossible to believe orgin.
Coffee is grown in many countires in the world and one of the largest producers is Vietnam.
In many Asian countries you will find a cute animal in the wild called Civet cats. They are often kept on caffee plantations in cages.
Civet cats love eating coffee berries, or stones as they are called. The stones have hard shells around them that many coffee lovers believe contributes to the sometimes bitter flavor of coffee.
The powerful digestive fluids in the Civet cat's intestines breaks this outer shell down. Are you guessing yet why this particular coffee is so rare? It seems that some plantations gather the beans that have passed through the Civet cat for processing into coffee. In the image above it looks like an impatient coffee lover is encouraging the Civet to give him the beans.
Once the Civet has done his business the workers hand pick the beans from the feces. They gather it together and according to our research they claim it is sterilized. That's good!
The sterilized beans minus that bitter outer layer are gathered and I suppose the lucky Civet is released into the coffee patch to have a go at the coffee again. According to sources Vietnam is the second largest producer of coffee in the world.
Or as Civet coffee makers say; We are NUMBER TWO and so is our coffee!
The beans are dryed and ready to be ground into coffee for human consumption.
Thirsty for some are you?
You can order some from Firebox.com at $35.00 U.S. for a two ounce package.
According to my calculations that is $560.00 per pound!
Ain't that a load of crap?

Being larger than that cat, I’ll eat those beans for them and bet they would get a lot more beans to sell. I would do it real cheap. Being Irish, they would have an Irish coffee taste......

This is a repeat of a fad from at least 6-7 years ago. I remember when this first came up and it was just as funny then as it is now. The afficionados of this drink can’t ever take offense when someone tells them to “eat $**t”.
