An inquest jury laid the blame for the tragedy of Fiona Pilkington and her daughter at the door of police yesterday.
They also condemned the local council for failing to protect Miss Pilkington and 18-year-old Francecca from youths who hounded them to their deaths.
Today the Mail reveals one of the families behind the reign of terror about which the police and council appeared either powerless or indifferent.
