You can believe what you want. Why would he write a song for the Sgt. Pepper album at the same time they admitted they were dropping acid, and there just happens to be a very psychedelic song on the album which just happens to have the initials LSD?

Coincidence? Lennon did admit that the song "Day Tripper" (which came out about 3 years before "Lucy") was inspired by acid, which he first tried then. He also claimed to have written the first two lines of "I Am The Walrus" while on acid. Why bother admitting those and then lying about "Lucy"?
