That’s one of his trademark rhetorical skills. He first makes a statment that nearly everyone agrees with, often a fairly conservative idea, then says ‘but’ and states his marxist view on the subject.
the following are examples I made up, but similar to things he says in speeches:
“I am a strong believer in small business, but too often workers are unnecessarily left out of the success of these businesses as profits are funneled to investors and owners. I believe the workers deserve a bigger share. I will mandate higher wages and profit sharing”.
“I have faith in the free market, but oil companies are gouging the consumer and I am going to add windfall profit taxes to protect the middle class.”
and so on.
I know you said you made them up, BUT I bet I can find Obama saying those somewhere.
