I am adamantly for or against almost any controversial issue, but on this one...ho hum. Would I try pot if it were completely legal? Haven’t decided.

California will show the nation how to kill productivity with a weed.

I always find it interesting that so many of the libtards that are anti smoking (cigarettes) are for the legalization of pot.......

I don’t care enough about California to care about what California does. If Californians feel they have to be stoned to tolerate the place, they should know.

I received a flyer for a “medical doctor” who gives prescriptions for medical marijuana the other day. It said “Marijuana works!” The conditions for which he felt marijuana would help included the following specifics: headache, anxiety, depression, insomnia.

“WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Heavy marijuana use can boost blood levels of a particular protein, perhaps raising a person’s risk of a heart attack or stroke, U.S. government researchers said on Tuesday.

Dr. Jean Lud Cadet of the National Institute on Drug Abuse, part of the National Institutes of Health, said the findings point to another example of long-term harm from marijuana. But marijuana activists expressed doubt about the findings.

Cadet said a lot of previous research has focused on the effects of marijuana on the brain. His team looked elsewhere in the body, measuring blood protein levels in 18 long-term, heavy marijuana users and 24 other people who did not use the drug.

Levels of a protein called apolipoprotein C-III were found to be 30 percent higher in the marijuana users compared to the others. This protein is involved in the body’s metabolism of triglycerides — a type of fat found in the blood — and higher levels cause increased levels of triglycerides, Cadet added.

High levels of triglycerides can contribute to hardening of the arteries or thickening of the artery walls, raising the risk of stroke, heart attack and heart disease.”

In the grand scheme of things there are far more troublesome issues.

My bet is the prison guard union is against it - fewer prisoners means fewer jobs.

Why are people talking like they know the specifics of how it would work?

Most certainly, the illegal drug dealers of today would make a lot less money than they are now.

I’d also assume that they’d let you grow it, but I could be wrong on that.

According to a well known, and outspoken leader from the left it’s a good bet that the state will legalize Pot next year.

Pot legalization is a goal of the left.

It would be worth it to hear the wailing and gnashing of teeth from our Wickardista drug warriors. Many of whom are still in the closet.

Interesting posts on this - seems to be a lot of folks who claim to be conservative turn into instant liberals when you mention the WOD.

The difference between a conservative and a liberal: a conservative looks at a firearm (marijuana) and thinks, 'That's not for me, I won't buy one (use it).' A liberal looks at firearms (marijuana) and thinks, 'That's not for me, I'm scared what it will do to the children so I won't buy one (use it) and therefore nobody else should be allowed to buy one (use it) either.'

I hope it happens. I’d love to see the challenge from the fed and the ensuing debate over the proper role of the federal government. There is nothing in the constitution which permits the federal government to outlaw drugs. It’s a State issue and where is should reside.
