Whether You Like it or Not - California Will Legalize Pot Next Year
(That seems to be the idea behind a new article out today)
According to a well known, and outspoken leader from the left its a good bet that the state will legalize Pot next year.
Part of the reason?
The state needs...
YES, a thousand times, YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Huge bias of government adgenda does not real science make. Just Reefer Madness updated.
LOL, Western Civilization is alcohol based and not Cannabis based like the Middle East.
This is my original post that seems to have upset you.
“You mean thousands of years of alcohol based White, Western Culture, and now it is time for us to start adapting the thousands of years of Middle Eastern Hashish and Marijuana culture?”
Now who's "Fail?"
Yes, that right! Your police state cheerleading = Fail.
In contrast to your leftist bilge, here's what Scalia and the Court actually held:
"Drugs like marijuana are fungible commodities. As the Court explains, marijuana that is grown at home and possessed for personal use is never more than an instant from the interstate marketand this is so whether or not the possession is for medicinal use or lawful use under the laws of a particular State."Naturally, you can't even begin to address, much less refute, what he wrote. Better run back to DU for some more talking points.
A leftist pretending to be a Palin supporter on FR. You've outed yourself.
Precisely. We live in an age of pre-cooked bacon and ready made salad bowls stocked smack dab in the middle of your grocery store's produce area. Both are considerably more expensive than "regular" bacon or salads, they save maybe 5 minutes time in cooking and cleaning, and IMO at least, they don't even taste as good as the home made kind.
But people still buy them because they require infinitesimally less effort than frying a slice of bacon or chopping a head of lettuce. If people will pay a surcharge for those things, I'm pretty sure they'd pay a little more for store-bought marijuana.
Randy Barnett, writing in Nat Rev, is not leftist bilge.
Clarence Thomas, writing his dissent, is not leftist bilge.
Benito’s crummy opinion, OTOH, is the very definition of fair weather federalism.
Abuse of the Commerce Clause is how the leftist bilge from congress passes judicial scrutiny in the first place!

No it isn't, although I would not participate in the use or sale, the pot grown by my roommate used to supply a famous actor's family, the pot simply came off a couple of bushes in our front yard. Where was the trouble other than a little water out of the garden hose since it was Southern California?
Here, have some sour grapes with your wine and cheese:
No quote, natch.
Clarence Thomas, writing his dissent, is not leftist bilge.
His factual assertion was wrong.
Again: There was nothing in the case records demonstrating that the cultivation and consumption was solely local. Raich wouldn't even identify who the drug pushers were who were providing the dope.
Another point you couldn't even bring yourself to address.
[crickets]
Your faith in Willie Brown is fascinating.
I already quoted Barnett. Do try and keep up.

The point is that Benito’s mal-interpretation of the Necessary and Proper Clause gives the Fed Gov unlimited powers.
Thomas crucifies the majority on this point, in his dissent.
I always thought that Conservatives supported limited government, and that statists wanted big government. There are certainly Republican statists.
There are certainly Republican statists with loud voices who are very anti marijuana.
Those Republican statists make it very difficult to persuade young people without fixed political ideas that Conservatives are for small government. They just point to the anti marijuana Republican statists.
We can be in favor of small government 9 times out of 10, but the official Republican position is strongly anti marijuana, so we have troubles.
Good. The failed drug war is a farce.
And I didn't label those quotes leftist bilge. Do try to stop lying.
The point is that Benitos mal-interpretation of the Necessary and Proper Clause gives the Fed Gov unlimited powers.
No, that's your just ignorant hyperbolic assertion, leftist newbie.
I agree w/ 0 on the pot issue, & I wish he would give Congress a swift kick in the you-know-what so they would hurry up & re-legalize marijuana. That doesn’t make me a Leftist, however, regardless of what you think.
Too late - our state workers & legislature already handled that.
You're very transparent.
Ronald Reagan created the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) school program and appointed the first federal drug czars.
