Gene Simmons has no love for the RRHOF.

I thought KISS got into the Hall of Fame back in the mid-80s. Shows how much I (don’t) know.
To: SilvieWaldorfMD
I’ll go with KISS, Darlene Love, Genesis, Chantels and Jimmy Cliff.

KISS, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Genesis, the Hollies, LL Cool J and Jimmy Cliff are first-time contenders for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, organizers said Wednesday. I must be getting old. But that notwithstanding, the pickings must be slim. Jimmy Cliff, I understand, has a cult following of about half the world's population. Chili Peppers? wuttever. Genesis? Pre-Phil, they were interesting. Hollies had a hit or two. Cool J? puhhhhh-lease.

The Stooges. That’s it.
I tend to agree with the rest of your post, too.

I won’t take this organization seriously until Rush gets in.

Rock is dead basicallythe industry might be dead.
But rock and roll can never die.
It's like capitalism, in that sense.
And like capitalism, it is getting a bad name.

Rock is still vibrant, although not the dominant genre anymore.
The R&R HOF has economic considerations here as much as anything, otherwise they wouldn’t continually leave out so many deserving artists and let in several who do not even if they have made worthy contributions to pop music as a whole.

No, just because Sony or somebody released that “Beatles, A Rock Band” interactive product, and the promotion features a bunch of Beatles music being played. Thus reminding America what it was like when a real band was creating real music. Almost as good as Kanye West.
