An invitation to join Dame Shirley Bassey at the Ritz Casino is not to be ignored - reports The Times. After unveiling her new album, The Performance, we ask the Welsh wonder, 72, if she is ready to return glamour and hummability to that much abased commodity, the James Bond theme tune.

DAF is fine with Dame Shirley, but TMWTGG is just too harsh. Have you ever heard the initial versions planned for “Thunderball” ? It was supposed to be entitled, “Mr. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang” and they recorded two versions of it. One with Dame Shirley and the other with a very young Miss Dionne Warwick. As it was, they only used an instrumental of it in the film used as little better than background music, which I thought was a shame. I thought it was second only to “Goldfinger” in Dame Shirley’s repertoire of JB songs.

Interesting how Dame Shirley said “Kiss Kiss Bammnnn Bannng” and Miss Warwick says “Kiss Kiss Bang Banggs !” Alas, they lost out to Tom Jones’s more energetic rendition of TB.
I have bought from Amazon selected tracks from the Moonraker OST. This is probably the most underrated James Bond OST. The openning song is great. I wish when I was 14 I had bought the albumn for the art work.
The title song was remastered and it is beautiful. Hal David + John Barry + Shirley Bassey = great song!
I actually like the song “All Time High”. It starts out too low but recovers. The Love theme of Octopussy is very beautiful, written by John Barry of course (Tim Rice wrote All Time High).
Yeah, it’s not a bad song.
.
More 007 tunes!
Yeah, a thread we were on in September.
I remembered All Time High from long ago- so went and got it
