I missed that. I always find it odd when a player states the HS they went to instead of college

Save The Chief!!!

(bring him back)

Nothing like having the left remove all historical reference to a people. I equate taking their names off of these teams with stealing their land out from under them. Naming their teams the Fighting Illini was a tribute to these noble people - not something dirty and racist that the left made it.

Be wary of the do-gooder.... you all know the quote.

Is Chief Illini associated with the Illuminati?

I loved it. The PC crowd banned the “chief” because it might offend the EXTINCT Illini.

thought it meant University of Illinois.

Illinois, which is Algonquin, meaning “he speaks normally”,

Perhaps we can sit and discuss Pythagorean theory?

It’s possible he actually thinks that’s the University’s name

It should be Chief Illiniwek. The alumni wanted to keep the Chief...the liberal faculty and the Democrats in the state legislature insisted on getting rid of him.

Unlike the situation with Florida State, where the present-day Seminoles could say OK to the university using their name, there aren't any Illini around now, so the "perpetually indignant" politically correct types were able to wage a crusade against the Chief.

Perhaps we can sit and discuss Pythagorean theory?

"The waters in the woods, and on the great lakes, run downward until they lie like my hand," said the Indian, stretching the limb horizontally before him, "and then they run no more."

"No honest man will deny it," said the scout, a little nettled at the implied distrust of his explanation of the mystery of the tides; "and I grant that it is true on the small scale, and where the land is level. But everything depends on what scale you look at things. Now, on the small scale, the 'arth is level; but on the large scale it is round. In this manner, pools and ponds, and even the great fresh-water lakes, may be stagnant, as you and I both know they are, having seen them; but when you come to spread water over a great tract, like the sea, where the earth is round, how in reason can the water be quiet? You might as well expect the river to lie still on the brink of those black rocks a mile above us, though your own ears tell you that it is tumbling over them at this very moment."

If unsatisfied by the philosophy of his companion, the Indian was far too dignified to betray his unbelief. He listened like one who was convinced, and resumed his narrative in his former solemn manner.

“I always find it odd when a player states the HS they went to instead of college”

I’ve seen them do some goofy stuff, like say their pre-school. But I gotta say, at least with football players you know where they went to college, how many can say this about their doctors, lawyers or pols?
