Rush - The Trick the Senate Might Use to NOT Defund ACORN (COI)

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Now, we all know that yesterday the House of Representatives, in voting to eliminate all private sector student loans and turn that into a totally government-run program, we were also told that Darrell Issa slipped in a bill there that would defund ACORN and that the house overwhelmingly voted for that.

Ah, ah, ah, ahhh! Representative Virginia Foxx also with WPTF radio, the Bill LuMaye Show, asked her a question. "Do we at some point defund them entirely where both the Senate and the House come together and say, 'No more federal tax dollars'?"

FOXX: They'll let something like this fly because they know this bill has passed the House. It will go to the Senate. The Senate will modify the bill, and then it will have to go to conference -- and what they do is they just drop that out when they debate the compromise. And they'll just drop it out at that point and you can't amend a conference report.

So the rules are that you have an up-or-down vote on the conference report and you can't amend anything. So they play this trick all the time. They'll vote on something controversial and say, "That's no problem. We vote on it," and then when they get behind closed doors in conference they just pull it out.

RUSH: So that's the trick. They knew they were going to pull it out in the Senate in the conference report. Oh, go in there and let the country think that they've defunded ACORN when they haven't -- and that's Virginia Foxx, a congresswoman explaining how it's done.

Interesting tidbit from Rush today about the trick the senate *might* pull.

My *wild* guess is the nationalization of the student loan industry will pass with flying colors and the defunding of acorn will be dropped in the senate.

All these nationalized industries will be forced to hire ACORN goons who will also spy on other workers.

The Senate was too fast in defunding ACORN. It is a shell game - pardon the pun.

The GOP better not vote for this if that amendment is taken out.

Just great, I despise these people. This may have been practiced in the past (no doubt at all that it has occurred), but ACORN may not be easily swept away. Obviously, we all need to follow this closely.

WHY did the GOP attach the ACORN defunding bill to a socialist bill in the first place?

This game playing is infuriating! And it's totally unacceptable that any republican would vote YES to the nationalization of the student loan industry or the government takeover of ANYTHING!

I think Beck is right. We the people need to insist that not another g-d thing comes out of DC until we have had a National Discussion on just whose values and vision do we endorse for the fuiture? The vison of the Founders or the vision of Zero and Clinton and Carter and Wodrow Wilson. I suspect We The People would win that discussion if the folks were given a clear presentation of the argument. Of course the Brown Shirt Media and the libtards will never allow this discussion to take place. Which is why we HAVE TO INSIST.
