This is only out because President Obama decided that the reaction to the leaked audio was positive.
CNN would never have let this out otherwise — because it was shot during set-up, and set-up IS off the record, and should be, unless the President says something that is truly news-worthy.

Maybe my tinfoil hat needs adjustment, but I can’t help wondering if this wasn’t orchestrated by Obama and West. By calling West a “jackass” Obama portrays himself as a fairminded person who is willing to slam someone of his own race. This will help his image as viewed by those in the mushy middle. It will detract from the claims that he is a racist.

Maybe I'm just being cynical, but I think this “candid” moment was staged. Come on! Obama new 90%+ of American’s thought Kanye was a jerk. This “slip” was risk free, and the feigned anger at the media for releasing it is staged as well. Truth be told, Obama and Rev. Wright are probably part of the 10% that thought that Kanye was justified putting “whitey” in her place.
