Thanks! I’m between projects right now, and getting a little antsy - need to take some time to go through my pattern magazines and find something to knit.

You know, knittnmom, it IS that time of year to look through your stash and kit things up for the long winter coming soon (and I see you are from Wisconsin; farther north than me in Indiana!)...
Have fun!

Yep, winter’s a good time to be knitting in Wisconsin. If I start a big project in October, it’ll keep my lap warm by December or January. :-)

It would be perfect for your daughters bed!
I agree and thank you for the googling. I've had very little interest in quilting or knitting (typical, I'd say for a guy) until we came across Sunbonnet Sue and I started looking her up just yesterday. I probably left over 50 quilts of varying ages in a house 3 hours away from me because I thought they were basically just old rags. After looking at Sue's history, I'm seriously considering driving back out there this weekend to get the rest.
Your knitting-related post came at a very coincidental time for me. Thanks again for your help!

You are very welcome. And if you don’t go get those other quilts, I will do it instead!

but they wouldnt be Victorian era or anything.
Thank you as well for your input. We figured them more for "depression-era" as well. However, they almost seem to be in too good of a shape. My g'ma-in-law is over 90, so it's not like she made it yesterday, and her mother lived in the same house before her. I wish I could ask her, but she's not in much of a condition to recollect.
I'll maybe see if anybody at a local fabric store can help tell me more about the age of the fabric.

:)
All,
I am not trying to flog a website or anything but I saw the title of this thread and had post a link for you. My Spouse does a LOT of knitting and design work. I have been trying to get her interested in FreeRepublic but no joy yet.
She has LOTS of Free and for Charity patters that she has designed on her web site - http://www.p2designs.com/
She has socks, sweaters, hats and all kinds of patterns she has designed. Just thought you might like another resource/more material...
Pardon the thread hijack! and I will keep trying to get her interested. Maybe now that I know there is a Vast Right Wing Knitting Circle...

That's not knitted. It's crocheted. LOL Gotta have the right terminology or you can't join.

Sorry, Pissant, I can’t knit or crochet. If I could, I would try it just for sh*ts and giggles.

Can someone find the link with the photos of actual signs with funny sayings from the 9/12 rally in DC? I had an idea this afternoon to work the sayings into little conservative cross-stitch samplers.
TIA!

I wasn’t a part of it then, but I knit now, so I want in! LOL!
I am pretty much a novice knitter, self-taught from a book and then knittinghelp.com . I am currently around half-way through a Cable Luxe Tunic (on Lion Brand’s website). Pretty ambitious for a first sweater attempt. I learned how to cable from the weekly Lion Brand emails.
I also know how to crochet, but I get elbow & hand pain from crochet. I decided to try knitting because of that, and I love it.

They were very much appreciated!! One of the dresses I made was the little girl’s ‘coming home’ dress. I was so touched!!

WOW!! That IS an ambitious for a first sweater!! I can’t wait to see it when you’re done!
I always recommend knittinghelp.com as a great tool to all of my new knitting students. It’s helped me a bunch too...

Don’t be too impressed! LOL! I started it in Feb., then shelved it because I was intimidated by the body directions. I picked it back up in July and just did what it said. Slow going, but I’m sure my daughter will love the sweater.
I’ll check you all out on Ravelry!
