I don’t think I’m ever going to get used to this hopey changey stuff.
Keeping with your “Pit Bull/Wild Crazy Animal” theme there Chet?
And if this had been the Duke Lacrosse team, this story would be quite different....
That kind of crap has been going on for years at colleges. I knew several female acquaintances in undergrad who had been raped after drinking too much, usually passed out, sometimes by several guys. Something else the media sweeps under the rug. It’s more widespread than reported.
I hope that our bosses are having a lot of fun with their feminist red herring policy in universities.
My daughter attends Hofstra and called me with some details.
The girl was at a party hosted on campus when a guy (a junior) pulled her cell phone from her holder. He ran back to his dorm, which is pretty close to where the party was and she chased after him.
He met her on the stair area with a rope and a knife, tied her up and dragged her to a bathroom, put her in a stall and raped her. The other boys came in and kept it up for quite a while.
However, the assailants were very easy to find — because the security person at the front of the drom had done his/her job. Since 4 of the 5 the dirt bags were not students, the security had had the boys sign in AND verified their signatures and pictures on their ID AND had them leave their ID at the desk.
Because of the rope and knife, they will be arraigned under Rape 1, kidnapping and the one who took the phone - grand larceny.
The poor girl is 18 and was in the hospital. Her parents came for her so she is with them now.
The campus is in shock over this and the girl is not being blamed at all (as in if she hadn’t done....then...) they are furious at the boys.
Yes it makes me nervous that she was so close to this violence, but no I did not ask her to leave. I asked her to be smart and reminded her to never drink anything that wasn’t sealed at a party or at a gathering, if something is taken, call security, and make sure she doesn’t travel alone. Beyond that, I don’t know of much else I could do.
Prayers for the 18 year old girl
