Yup. We live in a residential neighborhood not far from the ocean in southern California, and the coyotes are relentless. You cannot have an outdoor cat, at least not for long. You cannot let a small dog outside by itself. We have chickens, and if we let them roam the yard, the coyotes will attack in broad daylight. It is just a matter of time before a small child is attacked. Animal control doesn't do jack.
