Right, because a book about what a stand up guy George Bush was would sell a gazillion copies!

Anyone who has ever met privately with GW knows his Texas straight talk -— very direct and blunt!

I don't think he would refer to Hitlery’s “fat keister”!

Fat A$$ —— more likely from GW!

"ever using the term “cat”"

Quite the common term used by stereotypical beatniks in the 50s. W could have easily absorbed it as a kid. Not difficult to believe at all.

Indeed! That’s not a slam, it is an accurate assessment.

This guy forgot that libtards don’t read....bestsellers are usually written by conservatives. That said....so the hell what! I wish GWB had spoken his mind in public, seems like he got most of them right. Biden is a bull****er. Bush is out of office, nothing of significance to read about, same-old-same-old. Bush is Hitler...blahblahblah.

I am going to now read up on crazy cat behaviors.

Based on his comments about Hillary, Biden, and Obama, I’d have to say President Bush was a good judge of character.

I don’t appreciate his comments about Sarah Palin, though.

I had no clue that President Bush was a “stereotypical beatnik” back in the day or now!

"If bull- was currency," he said, "Joe Biden would be a billionaire."

And that one too.

using the term “cat"

Yep....the only living person that still uses that term is Dennis Miller; and I think he only says it because O'Reilly "digs it"...groovy

Sarah Palin, he cracked, "I'm trying to remember if I've met her before. What is she, the governor of Guam?"

Love you W, but Sarah Palin didn't deserve that one. She may not be ready to sit on that chair yet, but she is out there fighting the fight you are too gracious to fight. I think she deserves more respect then that.

He certainly liked two former politicians--Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush. As to the politicians in office during his Presidency, maybe he wasn't far wrong to like none of them.

The difference between Bush and Obama is that Bush kept his negative views to himself whereas Obama can't make a speech without making nasty comments about Republicans in general or President Bush in particular. (It's possible that he didn't do so in his 9/11 speech, which I didn't listen to, but if so it was a first.)

This incident from the book, from Byron York at the conservative Washington Examiner, is far more troubling, since York thinks it is plausible:

Bush was preparing to give a speech to the annual meeting of the Conservative Political Action Conference, or CPAC. The conference is the event of the year for conservative activists; Republican politicians are required to appear and offer their praise of the conservative movement.

Latimer got the assignment to write Bush's speech. Draft in hand, he and a few other writers met with the president in the Oval Office. Bush was decidedly unenthusiastic.

"What is this movement you keep talking about in the speech?" the president asked Latimer.

Latimer explained that he meant the conservative movement -- the movement that gave rise to groups like CPAC.

Bush seemed perplexed. Latimer elaborated a bit more. Then Bush leaned forward, with a point to make.

"Let me tell you something," the president said. "I whupped Gary Bauer's ass in 2000. So take out all this movement stuff. There is no movement."

Bush seemed to equate the conservative movement -- the astonishing growth of conservative political strength that took place in the decades after Barry Goldwater's disastrous defeat in 1964 -- with the fortunes of Bauer, the evangelical Christian activist and former head of the Family Research Council whose 2000 presidential campaign went nowhere.

Now it was Latimer who looked perplexed. Bush tried to explain.

"Look, I know this probably sounds arrogant to say," the president said, "but I redefined the Republican Party."

Too bad he never showed this anger in public. Perhaps he could have fought back once or twice against his opponnents. One last thing, don’t mess with my gal Sarah Dubya. She’s got far better ideas than you have!!!

"He came in one day to rehearse a speech, fuming," Latimer writes. "'This is a dangerous world,'" he said for no apparent reason, "and this cat [Obama] isn't remotely qualified to handle it. This guy has no clue, I promise you."

Bush speaks the truth.

Where did I say that W was a beatnik of any type?

Did you grow up in the US during the 50's? Listen to George Carlin much? Recognize that W does have many idiosyncratic verbalisms?
