One day last week in Flushing Meadows, in the mid-afternoon of her first Grand Slam tournament as a mother, Kim Clijsters was on the floor of the players' lounge, rolling around with her 18-month-old daughter, Jada.

Mother and daughter were kissing and cooing and hugging, a sweet scene played out with the world's best tennis players coming and going all around them. Some day Clijsters will be able to tell Jada about how the family visit to New York concluded, how she got off the lounge carpet not only to put together perhaps the two best weeks of tennis of her life, but to author a comeback story that will be hard to beat.

After the ugliness from the Serena incident, it was good to see the US Open end on a much better note.

And, to think, they did the whole thing without screaming at every shot. According to the Williams sisters, Sharapova, et al, that’s not possible.

it was close and there are no better angles. she clearly moved her foot forward, but it was either just a hair behind the line or an inch over the line. no one had a better angle on it than the line judge who made the call.

you can see it on other shots, she puts her foot up to the line and after the toss, bends her knees and rotates her foot over and then jumps into her serve.

Serena is a diva wanna be and NEVER gives her opponent the respect that mutual competition at the championship level deserves. She always finds a way to denigrate her opponent and somehow say she just didn't play well.

She thought she could CHEAT and that because she' "serena" , she could get away with it.... it's called the "NBA" defense... some "stars" get no calls cause they're "stars".

That's why you have a 400 pound Shaq, park his rear in the paint and just shove to the bucket without dribbling...or guys taking 2 1/2 or 3 steps without the ball hitting the court... and on and on...

Her non-apology was a joke cause she basically stated that "Hey, I might have foot faulted, but I'm "serena" and it was close to match point....and you don't call ME on that."

So the real rules apply to everybody but upper tier "name" players doncha know.

How 'bout this Serena? How 'bout ya not put your foot on the line and back up about 1-2 inches and the problem is solved.

It was great to see to smiling women enjoying the competition and truly heart felt gratitude after the match. The Polish and Danish thank you speech was an amazing show of grace and Wozniacki endeared herself to everybody. Kim is just a nice person and the smooch by her husband was just ..... nice to see.

I am glad that screaming banshees and thug game face faux intensity wasn't around our US Open.

Del Potro has a good chance against Federer. It should be a great final.
