Thanks, so in America the ethnic groups that comprise Asian might be a little different than the ethnic groups that the Brits would say are Asian, correct?

It is indeed different - only in usage and thinking.

When I filled out my university admissions form in 1991, I was called to check “Asian or Pacific Islander” for race. I obviously fell into this category.

So, officially, it still sems like Asians include all inhabitants of the Asian continent.
