Word For The Day, Tuesday, September 8, 2009

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
estivate [es-tuh-veyt]
-vi
1. to spend the summer, as at a specific place or in a certain activity.
2. Zoology. to spend a hot, dry season in an inactive, dormant state, as certain reptiles, snails, insects, and small mammals.
[162030; < L aestīvātus, ptp. of aestīvāre to reside during the summer (akin to aestīvus of or relating to summer); see -ate 1 ]
I know what you did last Summer.
How I wish I could estivate at the beach.
But what about an aestivus for the rest of us?
Happy Rainy Tuesday!!!!
should make a racy movie about it then.
At least we were spared the snapshot of the two of them dancing on the beach in their swimsuits.
sad to say, i’d rather be subjected to the pix of the fat middleaged clintoons dancing, figuring they are not as radical in their agenda.
I was so impressed with Obama's selection of Van Jones that I wrote a little doggerel last night:
I’ll be curious to hear which Freeper’s kids are subjected to the droning of Dear Leader today.
i love your Obams Seuss!
If you remove the “ahhhs,” “uhhhs,” and “ummms,” a 500-word Obama speech actually has only about 23 words.
2 - What is the direst point of this speech?
3 - Why would you comment about how you had to wake up at 4:30 in the morning?
4 - Did you write this speech yourself?
***********************************
3 of the 5 questions Jax came up with to ask the Pres after reading his speech yesterday. The other 2 questions dealt with why he made so many Harry Potter references.
Direst?
He’s been out of the news lately — I wonder where Sheen’s son Emilio estivated this year?
LOL!!!
Typo on my part. Should be direCt.
Probably with the Miami Sound Machine.
OK. i’m sure there are dire moments as well.
