A thought provoking piece.
With the current gang in the People's House, it is not necessarily and either/or proposition. It is his pleasure to completely and utterly destroy the greatest nation the world has ever known.
Thank you for posting and welcome to FreeRepublic.
In short, you're missing A LOT of 'the picture'. (and you are apparently fairly young)
Banning God from the public square has really improved the nation, hasn’t it? We really feel better about our fellow citizens now, don’t we? The level of trust and pride we feel for our government has really risen in the past 50 years, hasn’t it?
The enemies of this nation know that Alexis de Tocqueville was correct when he wrote in the 19th century, “America is great because she is good. If America ceases to be good, America will cease to be great.” (Google de Tocqueville’s other notable quotes, and you will be amazed at his prescience in describing what is happening now in our country.)
Good essay, even though I could of course come up with a few quibbles. Lucid and easy to read, although the expicit comparison of Obama with Hitler might make some readers turn away from what they might see as excessive hyperbole.
In any case, it is always nice to see another soul questioning the basis of contemporary liberalism.
And yes, the first-order reason for the trajectory of the west after 1789 is indeed the “Death of God” and the rise of nihilism. Liberalism being the first stage of nihilism.
I always liked this essay by Father Seraphim Rose on the topic:

I’m just curious, how old are you?
