My mother was buried six months ago from complications of a broken hip (this stuff happens when old ladies are almost 88). The broken hip was sort of due to her Alzheimers, since she apparently got up in the middle of the night, took a fall, and mentioned NO pain to the live-in caregiver. The paramedics were called in the morning, but not because of a "hip problem", but just because Mom was goofier than normal.......it wasn't until we got her hospitalized with a suspected UT infection that the fracture was discovered.

Alzheimers works in strange ways. Sufferers (as we learned during Mom's fading days) can often mentally obliterate pain --- all of which adds to the mysteries.

It all sucks - solace that she's resting now with Dad, her hubby of 67 years who predeceased her by 18 months to the day. They didn't have to wait too awfully long to be together again.

Anyhow == re the Alzheimers postage stamp....I stumbled across this issue about the time she died on February 27, and ran and bought a few dozen --- used 'em on the "thanks" cards for the florals, etc. The postage may have made a few recipients uncomfortable, but wifey and I felt it was appropriate.
