An Italian tourist is facing up to 15 years in a Brazilian prison for kissing his eight-year-old daughter on a public beach.

The businessman, 48, who has not been named, was arrested following a complaint from an elderly Brazilian couple who thought he was overly affectionate towards his daughter.

Despite protests from the girl that her father had done nothing wrong, the man is being kept in custody.

“why is it your business”

1. because it was in plain view. Haven’t you ever seen something in public, between a couple, and thought, “sheesh— get a room!”
2. because I’m a parent, I live in the city, so I keep my eyes open and I look around. Also, it is probably a factor that my radar for this sort of trouble is up more than it used to be, due to a child abuse workshop I had to attend, in connection with volunteer work with children. Nevertheless, I don’t think I was overreacting here. The necking I saw appeared to be giving sexual pleasure to the mother, while the child quietly sat still and tolerated it. And mom had her hand up the girl’s shirt. I don’t have to be too nosy to glance at something like that and get shook up. I’m not some voyeur— I’ve only had this happen once. I don’t think I was out of line.

That's kind of surprising since nothing is left to the imagination on Brazilian beaches.

I wouldn't be surprised if that happened in Jordan, Turkey or Egypt...

Let’s see:

1. Do you similarly condone looking up women’s skirts or down their shirts that are in plain view. How about in people’s windows who have failed to close their blinds? Learn to ignor some of what you can see.

2. Since you are a parent, you have a pretty full time job. That is raising your child/children not everyone elses.

3. That you attended a 99.999999999% likely leftist child abuse workshop is probably part of the problem. Possibly you can get some non-leftist counseling to help you not be titillated by a stranger mother and child you see kiss in public.

Or more simply maybe you could just mind your own business and raise your own child/children as you see fit and let others raise their children as they we fit within very very very wide latitude. And no please don’t petition the government to make us all toe the line to your style of parenting. You know the American way from the founders until very recently?

I’m sorry, but if I saw inappropriate sexual-looking behavior between an adult and a child, you better believe I would do something about it.

Number one, you do not know that the adult doing the behavior is the parent, and number two, even if the adult doing it (if the behavior is sexual in nature) is in fact the parent it doesn’t matter.

My God, and people wonder why so many children are abused...it’s because some people turn a blind eye and don’t want to get involved or figure it isn’t “their” business. But once they find out the situation was in fact abusive, some of those very same people speak of torching and pitchforking the guilty party.

Now, I have no idea what happened in regards to this article because I wasn’t there, but I am speaking about the concept in general.

Wow.

I get your point, but I think you are over-reacting, and assuming things not in evidence.

KJC1: Inaapropriate is not your business. Illegal posssibly is but then are you a lawyer and do you know the law. So I would say clearly illegal would be your business. Other than that you are being a busybody and should mind your own business. The Dims may believe people’s kids belong to everyone. Over here we are more into freedom to raise your child without the government stepping in except in extreme cases.

married21: Glad you get my point. It is worth making since we are constantly bombarded by Dims claiming to own everyone’s kids. Whether I assumed things not in evidence, we could discuss further if you are interested, but I am not sure I did.

JLS, no one is talking about the government, rather citizens doing the right thing. And I maintain that if I see anyone screwing with kids I will step in, and I will never apologize for it either.

Also, you are all over the place in your reply to me and the other poster.

Wow so you are talking about stealing someone other persons kids? I am pretty sure that is more than inappropriate. You might no apologize for that but you might do time.

I said nothing about “stealing” children. I don’t think you can be reasoned with.

You claimed no one is talking about government. So you are saying you do not plan to involve the police, you know the armed agency of the government. You further said, we better believe you would do something. So not involving the government, what else can you do to make someone change their behavior toward their children you don’t like?

Seriously do you even relate one sentence you write to the previous ones?

I agree that I wasn’t as clear as I could have been. What I meant was that as an individual, I would intervene, and of course I would report it. You apparently would do neither, and instead would “mind your own business” if a child was possibly being abused. Or at least that is what your comments have conveyed.

possibly

So on a possibility you would inject the government in strangers lives. You would do this even though their relatives, friends and neighbors had not seen fit to do this. So sorry yes you should learn that minding ones own business is the conservative way.
