It's a liberal armpit (politically).
I was assigned a class project and suggested to the rest of the team that we represent the NRA. A journalist team member immediately said she would decline. I sarcastically suggested we represent Amnesty International. She could do that one.
I hate liberals.
Well, you may be surprised to hear how conservative that Oklahoma, including Tulsa voted this last election then... :-)
All the counties in Oklahoma voted for the Republican ticket. And that included the two major metropolitan areas of Oklahoma City and Tulsa. Usually you’ll hear of major metro areas going liberal in these Presidential elections, while other areas vote conservative.
But, not Tulsa, as it voted conservative with the rest of the state. In fact, the State of Oklahoma was the only state in the United States which had all the counties on the state going for the Republican ticket. And in addition to that, Oklahoma had the highest percentage of popular vote for the Republican ticket of any state in the United States.
That doesn’t sound real liberal to me... :-)
Besides, Tulsa didn’t get the nickname for being the “Buckle of the Bible Belt” for nothing, ya know...
“Tulsa is a flaky city compared to the rest of Oklahoma, IMO. Tulsa’s politicians are more concerned with protecting their jobs than protecting lives.”
BS. My family has lived in Oklahoma for generations and has had politically active Republicans and Democrats. Tulsa was one of the few strongholds for Republicans through years of Democratic (albeit Southern) domination. Yes, the libtards in parts of the city keep idiot mayors in power. However, OKC is *much* more liberal when it comes to programs. OKC is full of state and federal employees who would love to see government expanded.
Tulsa has a good number of libertarian Republicans, which causes some command and control (Big Government) Republicans to complain. Personally, I think that’s self defeating.
