If you’re not set on cow milk, there are dwarf breeds of goats bred for milk production that could produce more than enough for your average family’s needs and they are probably easier to feed and would require a lot less room.

But then you have to live somewhere that allows livestock.

You're right ... the goats are a better alternative for some. I decided on goats instead of a milk cow after a friend introduced me to the joys of milking a huge critter that has no particular bathroom etiquette while you're down there with a pail. I had goats very soon thereafter.

Shhhhhh ... we shouldn't be discussing goats on Diana's thread. She isn't none too fond of the creatures!
