Garrido's Wife Kept Jaycee While He Was in Prison (And Helped in Her Kidnapping)
ABC News ^ | Sept. 2, 2009 | LEE FERRAN and KATE McCARTHY

Nancy Garrido, the wife of Jaycee Dugard's accused kidnapper, has a serious legal problem in her defense: She apparently kept the girl prisoner for a five month period while her husband Phillip Garrido went to prison for violating his parole, her lawyer acknowledged today.

SNIP

One of the many legal dilemmas Nancy Garrido faces is what she did during five months when Phillip was serving a prison sentence for violating his parole in 1993, just two years after Dugard was snatched off a school bus stop. Dugard was still only 13 when Phillip Garrido was returned to prison.

But Nancy Garrido clearly made no effort to send Dugard home during that time.

Police: No Doubt Nancy Was at Dugard Kidnapping

Nancy Garrido, then Nancy Bocanegra, met her future husband Phillip Garrido while he was serving time in Leavenworth prison, according to Phillip's brother.

At the time Nancy was visiting her uncle and soon after Nancy and Phillip began to write love letters to each other, Phillip's brother said. Public records show the two married in October 1981, seven years before Phillip would be released from prison.

Following his release the police say the couple conspired and kidnapped Dugard in 1991, beginning 18 years of torment for the young girl and her family.

Dugard's stepfather, Carl Probyn, witnessed the abduction and says it was Nancy who helped Philip snatch the young girl.

Probyn described the kidnapper to a sketch artist 18 years ago and it appears to look enough like Nancy that the police have no doubt.

"Nancy was with Philip at the original kidnapping. She was the female identified in the original car. She matches that description," said El Dorado County Undersheriff Fred Kollar.

What a sick “couple”.

I heard somewhere that Nancy, his wife, also abused Jaycee. That may explain why she didn’t want to send the girl home.

Police: No Doubt Nancy Was at Dugard Kidnapping

OF COURSE she was there.

Too Cruel A Theft - As Her Horrified Stepfather Looked On, Jaycee Dugard Was Stolen by Strangers (People Magazine, 1991)

Carl gazed at Jaycee as she neared the top of the hill, nearly a third of a mile away. Then a car creeping slowly down the road caught his eye. He moved closer to the door. "Maybe I know these people," he thought. "Maybe the man behind the wheel nor the dark-haired woman next to him looked familiar, and just after the small, gray sedan passed Probyn's home, it made a quick U-turn and headed back up the hill. Squinting in the bright light, Carl watched, puzzled, as it cut across the road and jolted to a stop in front of Jaycee. "Well," he thought, "it's Jaycee's friend's mom playing a joke." Then suddenly the driver's door was flung open, and in one horrifying moment Jaycee was dragged into the car, and Carl understood his mistake. "I heard Jaycee scream," says Carl, "and she was gone."

(snip)

Police have been no more successful. For the moment, in fact, they have only one bit of information that could be a clue: Carl's description of the woman in the car as Indian or Pakistani, with jet-black hair and dark eyes...

The two of them are as guilty as sin.

I hope they are put into the general population and not kept in solitary.

The towns folk should pick up their torches, march down to the police station, and demand that they release him to them for expedited justice.

So he spent time in prison for violating his parole. Are we to assume that the police or parole officials never visited the guys house to investigate the parole violation?

Yes: Wouldnt we all like to be able to do that.

These people should go to the chair and get there quickly in an expedited manner.

These women who visit kidnappers and murderers in jail and marry them are some sick puppies. there is no doubt some sort of sex between the three of them was carried out. This woman is as guilty as the man and shopuld be holding his hand as they sit side by side on “Old Sparky”.

I heard that the parole officer would come and talk to Phillip Garrido in his front yard, and did not notice the tents in the back yard.

There have always been female pedophiles.

Conceivably as high as 1/3 of all cases in therapy have been abused by women. Which might not mean that women are perpetrators in that high a percentage of total incidents, just that it is more damaging.

That is interesting. I would think that a person on parole wouldn’t have any right to privacy in an effort monitor their reintegration into society. In this case, not going into his property allowed a crime to be committed when the state was still responsible for him.

Garrido’s boldness got him caught, taking his “daughters” out with him.I saw that they even attended a birthday party a couple of weeks back, and by the blared out pics, they are not wearing Little House on the Prairie. Questions abound, like why no mention or pics of the main house interior? Were they living there also after they got jaycee to forget her past? What happened to Garrido’s mother who lived there?

And what does Jaycee's daughters share with the President of the USA?

Sex compulsion crime - or whatever it is called can not be cured. Even if in jail and let out as old men they will still be hard wired to sex criminality.

I know these were done away with by the 70s and only live on in Batman comics but maybe we should bring back institutions for the criminally insane? Life time incarceration in such institutions for sex criminals.

They cost a fortune to house in the general population because of they become targets and we can't kill them (I wish but we can't let us be realistic).

Thoughts? Anyone?

I read an article where it is theorized he wanted to be caught. He was starting his own religion and his blog entries were going nowhere it is postulated so he decided that this was would gain him publicity.

I think he wanted to be caught to promote his weird religion. He gave his manifesto to the FBI earlier, and when that didn’t work he brought them to this meeting.
